Revealing Us (Inside Out #3) by Lisa Renee Jones (ARC)

***WARNING!!! MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FROM PREVIOUS NOVELS IN SERIES!!! AND HAS SOME STRONG SEXUAL CONTENT NOT SUITABLE FOR ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18!!!!!***

Hey Everyone!

So while I've started reading like three or four different books, I wasn't getting 100% into them, so the other day I just decided to just pick up my Kindle and find something I've been looking forward to reading, but just haven't had the chance to pick up!

That's when I found Lisa Renee Jones's Revealing Us, the third in her Inside Out Series!  I love this series, I've read both the novellas and the actually full-length books that go with this series!

From Goodreads:

The third installment in the sexy Inside Out erotic romance series—in the seductive tradition of Fifty Shades of Grey.

You've discovered Rebecca's secrets. You've discovered Sara's secrets. Now Sara will discover "his" deepest, darkest secrets...but will those secrets bind them together--or tear them apart?

My Thoughts:

First off, if you haven't read the first two books in this series...WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR???? If you're a fan of Fifty Shades, The Gideon Cross Series you'll be sure to like this one!! Personally, this is my favorite of the three! Why?  Because not only does it contain a sexy story, but it also has a murder mystery involved!!! How kick-ass is that!

Revealing Us, the third in the series, continued right where Being Me (the sequel) left off!  It had the suspense, the culture, the great (somewhat damaged) characters that I've grown to loved! It just had everything, once again, that I love about this series!

Lisa has created a series, that, in my opinion, almost puts Fifty Shades to shame!  It may not be as detailed in the sexcapades that Fifty is famous for, (it still has some sexy details though! ;)), but it's not only written much better, but it's got more elements that make it more interesting for me!

My Rating:

I truly, HIGHLY recommend this series!  You can see that not only from this review, but also from my reviews of If I Were You and Being Me!

My only complaint that I had on this one was Sara...oh goodness, that girl sure likes getting into trouble!  And I will admit, her whole at first acting innocent and not realizing she was getting into trouble thing, but afterwards realizing, was a tad annoying.  But with Chris in the picture it sort of blanked that out and made me forget.  ;)

So definitely check this series out!!  You can get your copy through Amazon and Barnes and Noble, and I'm sure many other book outlets! :)

What Really Happened in Peru (The Bane Chronicles #1) by Cassandra Clare and Sarah Rees Brennan

Hey Everyone!

As some of you may know, I'm a huge fan of Cassandra Clare's books!  So last year when I got to meet Cassie, along with Maureen Johnson and Sarah Rees Brennan, I was stoked on life to find out she had co-authored with both Maureen and Sarah and written a novella series, in the world of both The Mortal Instrument and Infernal Devices series!

Well, a year later, I've FINALLY come around to reading the first book in The Bane Chronicles, entitled, What Really Happened in Peru!

What Really Happened in Peru was written by both Cassandra Clare and Sarah Rees Brennan!

From Goodreads:

Fans of The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices know that Magnus Bane is banned from Peru—and now they can find out why. One of ten adventures in The Bane Chronicles.

There are good reasons Peru is off-limits to Magnus Bane. Follow Magnus’s Peruvian escapades as he drags his fellow warlocks Ragnor Fell and Catarina Loss into trouble, learns several instruments (which he plays shockingly), dances (which he does shockingly), and disgraces his host nation by doing something unspeakable to the Nazca Lines.

This standalone e-only short story illuminates the life of the enigmatic Magnus Bane, whose alluring personality populates the pages of the #1 New York Times bestselling series, The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices series. This story in The Bane Chronicles, What Really Happened in Peru, is written by Sarah Rees Brennan and Cassandra Clare.

My Thoughts:

So I'm always curious, when it comes to books that are co-authored, how much of the writing was done by whom?  I'm curious if Sarah actually wrote this story, but since it's in the world of Cassie's novels, that Cassie is the co-author because she came up with the overall concept in her past books?  It's been almost a year since I read Cassie's last novel, Clockwork Princess, so I may be mistaken, but I did feel that the writing style was slightly different from her Mortal Instrument and Infernal Devices series.  I'm not saying in a bad way, but in a way that possible it may have been written by someone else.  I don't know though for sure!

Anyway, Magnus!  Pretty much all fans of both Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices love Magnus!  He's not only an awesome warlock, but also such a unique character that you don't get in a lot of writing!

I truly enjoyed this one, of course, it being set in the world of Cassandra Clare's imagination and all.  The characters had hysterical dialogue, it was fun reading more on Magnus, since we only get tiny snid-bits throughout Cassie's other series.

I read it in one sitting, it took me not even an hour!

Overall rating...

Why Four, not Five Bookies? you may be asking?  Well, to be honest the ending was slightly disappointing...almost a cop out in my opinion.  But it still had a great concept, was set in a world I love to live in, and had one of my favorite characters from two of my favorite series! :)

I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you're a fan of the Mortal Instruments and/or Infernal Devices Series!  While short (only about 65 pages), they are fairly affordable on Amazon and Barnes and Noble ($2.99), which isn't too bad for a book, even a novella, by a World-Wide Best Selling Author!

Have a great day everyone!! :)

Random Post #7: Getting Out of my Reading Funk

Hey Everyone!

So I feel bad.

I've neglected The Romance Bookie so much in the last year, it's not even funny!
A lot has happened in my life! I got my drivers license, met an amazing guy, working like crazy, and of course school.

It's been all a lot to handle, some amazing, some crazy, and some just super annoying!  However, it all needs to be done, and sometimes unfortunately, while I hate to admit it, reading has to go on the back burner.

That being said, I'm still so unbelievably in love with books.  I went to a couple of Thrift Stores the other day, and where do I head first?

The book section of course!

It's just second nature by now!  I did hold myself back from buying too many books, and ended up walking away with one good find that I couldn't turn down.

And it's not like I have stopped reading!  I still read!  It just has been taking me a lot longer to finish a book! On average I've been finishing maybe one or two books a month...which yes is absolutely pathetic, especially taking into account that in 2012 I read over 110 books!  110!  Isn't that crazy?!

However, back in 2012, reading was the only thing I had going on that gave me any excitement in my life!  I had to rely on people to get anywhere, so I stayed home a lot; I didn't have a job, and my classes were all online.

And while, I don't regret not having a social life, because I had the opportunity to read so many fabulous books, I must admit that I have been extremely happy this past year!

I get to drive myself around to wherever my heart desires!  In fact, I'll be driving myself to my first couple of signings next month!!!!  I get to hang out with amazing friends whenever I have free time!  And I get to spend as much time as I can with my wonderful boyfriend.

It's been a crazy few months, but totally and extremely worth it!

That being said...I miss reading!  I've been itching to write reviews, but I just am not reading fast enough to be able to write reviews!!  I'm almost tempted to reread books that I know I absolutely love, possible some I've already reviewed and rereview them, if my opinions have changed or even if not; but just so I can read, and get back into the swing of things!!

I've been so restless too!  Not even in a bad way; but just in a way where I want to do SOMETHING!! Whether it be write (like I'm doing right now), scrapbook, go out and buy books or clothes (which unfortunately I can't do, because I need gas money lol); but just do SOMETHING!!!!

So here's what I will try to do!  I want to start writing again here on The Romance Bookie, on a regular basis.  Now I don't know if I'll get to writing as much as I did back in 2012 and before; and I don't know if I'll be reading AS MUCH as I did before; but I do want to read at least a little bit more, and I also want to write a blog post at least once a week!  Whether it be a book review, or just a random post like this that is related to books somehow!

I also have started up Music Tuesdays again, so I hope you all get to enjoy some possibly new music! :)

Now that's it from me for now, I'm off to find something to do; whether it's come up with some possibly interesting/entertaining book topics to discuss in the future, or read my latest book!

I just don't know! :)

Well, I hope everyone is having a great week, and I will be back soon!! :)

Music Tuesday #73

Hey Everyone!!

For Music Tuesday #73, I've got a current favorite of mine...

I'm a huge fan of power ballads, and while this is a cover, I just can't get enough of this rendition. Jasmine Thompson has got a great powerful voice! I recently discovered her on Pandora, and just can't get enough of her voice!

Music Tuesday #72

Wow, guys it's been WAY too long since I've done a Music Tuesday post! I've gotten so caught up in life, that I've totally neglected The Romance Bookie, and I'm extremely sad about that actually!  So while I know nothing can make up for the past eight months of me being extremely slow and behind on reading, I am going to share with you one of my current favorite songs! :)

This one is Lorde's latest one, just absolutely love listening and jamming to this one in my car on the way to school! :)

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Frostbite (Vampire Academy #2) by Richelle Mead

Happy Sunday everyone!! :)

Goodness, I have spent all day enjoying a nice relaxing day of being lazy!  In fact, I finally got around to finishing the second Vampire Academy book Frostbite!  It's only a bit over a week since I started it, but I was getting a little frustrated that I couldn't continue reading it, when I had to do homework instead...because let me just say, this series is GOOD!!!! I love it so much!! I'm so unbelievably looking forward to reading the next books in the series. In fact, right now I'm holding myself back from going immediately to Barnes and Noble.com and buying right away, because unfortunately I need gas money this week ;(.

Anyway, let me get to the review of Richelle Mead's second book in the Vampire Academy Series, Frostbite!

From Goodreads:

Rose loves Dimitri, Dimitri might love Tasha, and Mason would die to be with Rose...

It’s winter break at St. Vladimir’s, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academy’s crawling with Guardians—including Rose’s hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway. And if hand-to-hand combat with her mom wasn’t bad enough, Rose’s tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason’s got a huge crush on her, and Rose keeps getting stuck in Lissa’s head while she’s making out with her boyfriend, Christian! The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy’s not taking any risks... This year, St. Vlad’s annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.

But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only create the illusion of safety. When three friends run away in an offensive move against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. But heroism rarely comes without a price...

My Thoughts:

Goodness was this a good book!  The action, the characters, the wittiness! Everything was just so good!

Rose and Dimitri's relationship is heating up...I'm so looking forward to seeing how that goes!! I imagine personally, someone like Ben Barnes ("Prince Caspian" from Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian) or Tyler Blackburn ("Caleb" from the TV series Pretty Little Liars) playing the role.

We actually didn't get as much on Lissa in this one.  I mean she showed up quite a bit, but she wasn't as huge a character as she was in the first one.  Her and Christian are so cute though!!

I really liked the new character introduced, Adrian Ivashkov! He has a lot of intrigue and I can't wait to see how that goes further into details in the coming novels!

Rose's mom, Janine made an appearance in this one, and the whole time I found myself wondering, "Will we ever find out who her dad is???" because you hear about him sometimes, for instance we know he is Turkish, and Rose got her hair from him, but we don't know anything else, because no one will tell Rose anything!

Goodness I'm REALLY looking forward to what this series will bring!! I'm loving it so much!

My overall review:

I highly would recommend this series to not only vampire fans, but also to fantasy/paranormal lovers! I'm honestly not specifically into vampire books, I like all the elements surrounding that book; like the romance, the action, the different takes on the fantasy creatures from authors, etc.  This one has some great elements to it definitely!  Definitely check them out if you haven't already!

Thanks everyone!

Vampire Academy (Movie Review)

So guys, I've been on the Vampire Academy craze for the past two weeks now!  I've become absolutely addicted to the books! Addicted! In fact, before I even finished the first one I drove to Barnes and Noble, renewed my membership, and bought book two!  I haven't done that in the longest time! I swear! In fact, the last time I did that was during my Twilight craze in 2008, during my senior year of high school.  Hmm...vampires make me do crazy things, I guess. ;)

Anyway, tonight I saw Vampire Academy, the movie!  After reading the book, I forced myself not to see any trailers, because I wanted to be 100% surprised going in.

And this morning, I was hearing some early reviews, saying how awesome it was and how close to the book it was! So naturally, I was excited!

Well...I'm just going to go straight to the point...

I HATED IT!

I'm sorry, I honestly don't use that word very often ("Hate"), but honestly that was one of the WORST movies I have ever paid money to see!! No joke! WORST!!!  All that's going through my head is, "NO wonder why they aren't turning more fantasy YA novels into movies, if they creating this crap!"

So much was wrong with it! Where to even begin??!!

How about the acting...AWFUL! Extremely overly cheesy!  While we're at acting, let's discuss casting choices...Dimitri, played by Danila Kozlovsky...while he had the awkwardness of Dimitri down, plus not to mention the Russian accent, he looked too old!  He's actually only 28 in real life, but I personally thought the hair and the muscles in his neck made him look way older than the 24 years Dimitri is supposed to be...in fact, so old, it almost creeped me out when he looked adoringly at Rose.

Next...dialogue!  Oh goodness, what a cheese fest!  While some lines were funny (like "Lissa shopped at Hot Topic...but then she turned 12!"), but at the same time, with the poor acting, cheap looking camera angles and directing, they just came off all wrong.  They used some quotes from the book, and while I laughed at them during the movie, it wasn't in the way I laughed at them when I read them...it was laughing at how awful they were performed.

I'm sorry, I'm honestly a nice person...or so I have been told by many people, so reading this may make that shocking...but I'm just so mad at how badly Hollywood ruined this one!

Now to one thing they changed and I have to mention...what was that whole thing with Ms. Karp????????????? REALLY???!!! Hollywood had to add that snid-bit at the end where they get it ready for movie #2 to be made??

NO!!!! I'm sorry, but that is one movie that I will not be paying my hard earned money to see!  I will wait for it to come on Netflix, like the rest of the RIP Hollywood Bombs.

Soo what do I rate it?

Let's see, if you haven't already guessed...

Poster from IMDB.com

I knew there was a reason why the poster bothered me so much, even before I saw the movie!  This was like a terrible MTV Cable movie! I'm sorry for being so harsh, but I just can't recommend this one, and I have no idea what Hollywood was even thinking.
