Wildflower by Drew Barrymore

Hey! In my neighborhood we have this cool book box!  In it we can put books in and take a book when we see something we want to read ourselves.  I love this thing!  I look into multiple times a week, to see if there is anything new; I've put a few in myself too.  Out of that box, I recently found Drew Barrymore's memoir, Wildflower.   I have always loved Drew Barrymore's movies!  Especially the ones she does with Adam Sandler!   Blended is one of my absolute favorite movies of all time!  In fact I watched it last night with my husband for like the hundredth time!  So I was really excited to read her memoir! A lot of us have heard the notorious stories about Drew Barrymore's childhood.  So I was really intrigued to hear her story from the person who actually lived it herself. From Goodreads: Wildflower is a portrait of Drew's life in stories as she looks back on the adventures, challenges, and incredible experiences she's had throughout her life.  It

Marriage Vacation by Pauline Turner Brooks (aka Jo Piazza)

Hey Everyone! I finished another book!  I bought this one along with Shrill , when I found an Amazon Books store in NYC last week! I cannot believe I already finished both in less than a week, when I hadn't finished a single book since last July! From Goodreads : In season four of Darren Star's hit TV Land series Younger , the editors of Empirical Press are shocked and deeply moved when they read Marriage Vacation , an autobiographical novel by the publisher's estranged wife, Pauline Turner Brooks.  Knowing the book will cause a sensation, they decide they must publish it.  Now you can read what the hype is about. To find herself...she might lose everything. By all appearances, Kate Carmichael had the perfect life: two adorable daughters, a pre-war town house on the Upper East Side, and a husband who ran one of the most successful publishing companies in New York.  But when Kate attends the wedding of two of her oldest friends, and reconnects with succe

The Start of Something New?...

Hey Everyone! Notice anything new?  After over eight years of the same design, The Romance Bookie has gotten a makeover! I figured it was time for a change. 2010 to Summer 2018 I started The Romance Bookie in December 2010, and she quickly became my baby.  I put A LOT of work into her. Over THREE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY REVIEWS have gone up on her!  380!!!  That numbers just seems so crazy to me!!! When I started The Romance Bookie I was a shy freshmen in community college who was really trying to find her way in the world.  I started her before I met my husband!  In June we will be celebrating six years together; which means that my "baby" was already over three years old when we met.  He is the majority of the reason why I started neglecting her a bit, because meeting the love of your life can do that for you :). We have been married now two and a half years, have an adorable twenty pound King Charles Spaniel mix we rescued the day before we got married, and live i

Shrill by Lindy West

Hey Everyone, I know it's been a while...a long while.  And to be honest, I don't know how many will read this, not that I have ever known; but I'm sure it is no where near how many people used to read.  I'll probably write a post soon, about life updates and such. But I just got back from a life-long dream trip, and had a six hour plane ride.  So what do you do what when you're sitting in the most uncomfortable seat, squished between two people, and can't sleep?  Read! I recently binge-watched the six episodes that Hulu released of the show Shrill .  I didn't realize it was only six episodes long until after I had finished them, and the seventh episode wouldn't load...boooo!!!!! I was super hooked!  How empowering to finally have a show released about a plus size girl kicking ass in the world!  Aidy Bryant was awesome in the show! As someone who has struggled with their weight their entire life, this show immediately caught my attention when t
