TV Thursday #2: The Big Bang Theory

Image
Hey Everyone! So I know The Big Bang Theory  sadly ended its final season this year, but this show has had a very special place in my heart since almost the beginning.  I sadly have not been able to see the final season, because we don't have cable or DirectTv anymore (we chose streaming sites instead), but I am very much looking forward to Black Friday so I can pick up the final season to binge with my husband at home! Image from IMDB I started watching The Big Bang Theory  in 2010, when I picked up the first season on DVD during a Black Friday sale.  As I watching it, my dad ended up sitting down and joining me and my mom.  And he got HOOKED!  We ended up binging the entire season in one weekend, and after we were done, he went, "Alright, so where is season 2?"  I ended up running to the store, picking up the rest of the next season, and it went on from there, until we ran out, because the current season wasn't out on DVD yet.  Every year I bought the next

Tuesday Tunes #3: Star Wars Theme Song

Image
Hey Everyone! Time for another Tuesday Tunes! This week I am going with the Star Wars Theme song! For one, I can't get my trip recent trip to Galaxy's Edge off my mind, mainly because I am dying to go back for another round Disney fun! And two because this is the one song I have heard my husband hum to himself, which is amazing, because he is can't sing to save his life, but is super cute trying! Thanks Bored Panda for this gem! I love Ewoks!   Look at his cute face!! Anyway Happy Tuesday everyone! The Romance Bookie :)

Movie Monday #3: John Hughes Classic, Uncle Buck

Image
Hey Everyone! For today's Movie Monday I picked the movie Uncle Buck !  It features John Candy, Macaulay Culkin, and Laurie Metcalf, along with many others! I watched it this past week with my husband for a movie night, because we both hadn't seen it in years!  John Candy is one of my favorite actors.   The Great Outdoors  is one of my favorite movies, I watch it at least once a year; because I never get tired of it! Uncle Buck , has some great quotes!  There is the quarter scene with the principal, and then when he asked Tia's (the oldest daughter) boyfriend if he has ever heard of a ritual killing ceremony.  ðŸ¤£.  Some great stuff in this movie! It's such a classic, and a perfect movie to start off your fall and holiday season! Image from IMDB If you don't know what Uncle Buck  is about, here is the description from IMDB: Bachelor and all-round slob Buck babysits his brother's rebellious teenager daughter and her cute younger brother and si

Tuesday Tunes #2: Tunes from Disneyland and Disney World

Image
Hey Everyone!! I cannot get my trip to Disneyland out of my head! I want to go back!!!  My husband literally just thought about throwing away all our responsibilities and going back for the day...and we live over two hours away!  But you know responsibilities and money management need to take priority today...and probably for the next few weeks. But for this weeks Tuesday Tunes, I am picking songs that play around the park. A particular favorite of mine is a song that only plays in Tomorrowland at Disneyland, but has its own ride at Disney World, called "The Carousel of Progress".  It's one of my husband and my favorite rides!   The song is called "There is a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow", and I constantly sing this song around the house, and especially around the parks, when I'm skipping around in my happy place. Right now is Halloween time in the park, which means that the Haunted Mansion is decorated for both Halloween and Christmas, in th

Movie Mondays #2: Star Wars Episode VI : Return of the Jedi

Image
Hey Everyone! So I missed last week, but dang, was it busy!! FUN! But super busy!  Mainly because my husband and I went to Disneyland!!!  We got annual passes for the first time since 2013, back during our first year together.  We are HUGE Disney fanatics, and love having the opportunity to go anytime we can!  Last year we had Disney World annual passes, because we took this big Family Trip, and were there long enough, that it just made sense to get a pass, and then we went back in February of this year, because we wanted to make the most out of the pass.  Unfortunately, it did expire last month, and even though we told ourselves, we were Disney’d Out when we got back in February from Florida, by the beginning of this past summer, we were already itching to go again.  Especially with the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Also we hadn’t done the new Incredible Coaster at California Adventure, so we found a reason to go!  With us getting ready to have a child, we know this might b

No Judgements (Little Bridge Island #1) by Meg Cabot (ARC Review)

Image
Hey Everyone! I honestly didn't think I would be approved, but holy moly NetGalley approved me!!! I got approved for Meg Cabot's latest adult novel No Judgements !!  She hasn't released a new series in years, especially an adult one, so I have been really looking forward to this one!!!   From Goodreads : The storm of the century is about to hit Little Bridge Island, Florida -- and it's sending waves crashing through Sabrina "Bree" Beckham's love life... When a massive hurricane severs all power and cell service to Little Bridge Island --as well as its connection to the mainland -- twenty-five-year-old Bree Beckham isn't worried...at first.  She's already escaped one storm -- her emotionally abusive ex -- so a hurricane seems like it will be a piece of cake. But animal-loving Bree does become alarmed when she realizes how many islanders have been cut off from their beloved pets.  Now it's up to her to save as many of Littl

TV Thursdays #1: Stranger Things

Image
Hey Everyone!! So any Stranger Things  fans??!!  Of course there are!! Who isn't right??!! 😉 Well I'm super excited, because I'm going to Universal Studios today for Halloween Horror Nights!  I am a bit nervous, because I don't like being scared, especially in horror film situations, but I am very excited because Stranger Things has a maze this year, so I'm going to be rocking my Stranger Things  t-shirt, with a butterbeer in my hand, and walking around trying not to pee my pants! So we were pretty late to the Stranger Things  game, because we started the show early this past summer.  But man, did we get hooked!!!  We have of course finished it now, in fact I'm already jonesing for the next season...and season three JUST CAME OUT!!! But while we wait for Season 4 to come out, my husband and I have started collecting Stranger Things  Pop Vinyls!  Any Funko fans??  They are sooooo adorable!!!!  My Harry Potter collection is growing too, but that is for an

Tuesday Tunes #1: Lover Album by Taylor Swift

Image
Hey Everyone! Here's another weekly post! This one is pretty common I believe, just talking about the music I'm listening to!  I used to do this one years ago, under a different name I believe.  But I'm going to bring it back. Music has only recently come back into my life.  I had a very difficult time listening to it after my dad passed.  The last few years, when I did listen to something it was usually an audiobook during my long school commutes, or the radio in the background. But I am going to try to bring it back, hopefully!!  These posts may not come every week, but hopefully more often, just so more posts can go up on The Romance Bookie, and keep me busy, when  my brain is just absolutely scatterbrained! So for my first Tuesday Tunes, I am currently listening to the Lover Album  by Taylor Swift on repeat in my car.  I recently got Apple Music, and so the album has been following me around.  In the car I have the CD playing that I got opening day, but then w

Movie Mondays #1: Now & Then (1995)

Image
Hey Everyone! I want to try to start blogging more, and so I've been running through some possible ideas for Weekly Posts, so The Romance Bookie isn't sitting as dormant as she has been these last few years.  Plus I'm not reading as much as I used to, so I really would like keep her up with not only books, but also other things I'm interested in. I'm sure Movie Mondays is probably taken somewhere, but I am going to try to share which movies are on my mind! For my first week, I'm picking a movie I just found last week for the first time.  It's on Netflix, a semi-old one, but a good one! Image from IMDB   It's called Now & Then , and it features a younger Christina Ricci (around her Casper days!), as well as Rosie O'Donnel, Rita Wilson, Demi Moore, and many more. So I don't know if there are any Casper  fans reading this, but if there are, do you guys remember the cutie who plays real-boy Casper??  You know the one all of us

What Have I Been Up To?

Image
Hey Everyone! Another two months have passed since my last review :(, but I promise I have my review for Meg Cabot's latest novel  No Judgements  scheduled for September 20th! I have been pretty busy these last couple of months.  I got laid off a few months ago from my job, which was very difficult, not just financially but also emotionally, because I had been running that after school day care for three years, and knew most of the kids for years before that (because of my previous job at the same school).  I had grown attached, and it was very sad to leave my last day of work.   I miss them. Luckily, I live in a small town, so I do get to see some of them once in a while though. Anyway, I am currently working with my husband and his company; which has been an interesting experience.  I am definitely still learning the ropes, but I have been extremely lucky in that while we are super busy, I can have time off when I need it. So does that mean, I have been reading? Sadly

Losing at Love (Outer Banks Tennis Academy #2) by Jennifer Iacopelli

Image
Hey Everyone! So years ago, 2013 to be exact, I got to be a part of this really awesome blogging team called the OBXers!  We helped and supported an up and coming author named Jennifer Iacopelli, get her debut book out into the world.  I remember it being so much fun to be a part of the team!  The best part, however, was getting to read an ARC of Game. Set. Match.   I loved it!  It was such a great book, containing my favorite things!  Romance, teen drama, romance, and...teen drama!  What more could you ask for?? Well it's been over six years, and I finally had the time to read the second book in the series, Losing at Love , which was released in 2015. From Goodreads : Grass courts, tennis whites and the fiercest competition in the world.  Wimbledon.  After two crazy weeks in Paris, the girls of the Outer Banks Tennis Academy are headed to London with just one thing on their minds: winning. Indiana Gaffney is fresh off a surprise win at the French Open junior tourn

This Week!

Hello Everyone! So I'm officially 28!  Can I still be considered in my mid-twenties?!  ðŸ˜‰ I got to do some exciting things with my husband on Tuesday for my day! I went on the Warner Brother's Studio Tour in Burbank! It was a lot of fun, and super exciting!  Last Friday WB added the set of Big Bang Theory on the tour!!  Big Bang Theory is one of my all time favorite shows! So to see the set was awesome!!! Not only that but I also got to see pieces of so many other sets from some of my favorite shows!!!  Such as Gilmore Girls !!!! Stars Hallow Gazebo!! Ms. Patty's Dance Studio!! Luke's Diner!!! And the studio where Friends  was filmed!  Currently it is the home to Fuller House!   We got to go inside, and see the current set, the show is on hiatus, but it was pretty awesome seeing the Full House  kitchen!  We were not allowed to take pictures inside though, sadly. The tour also had a couple of special exhibits. Such as the costum

Something I'm Good At (Sol del Mar #1) by Caroline Andrus (ARC Review)

Image
Hey Everyone! I'm back again!! Did you miss me? Of course you did! ;)  All three of you reading this... Oh who am I kidding, my mom! "Hi Mom!!" 😄 Just kidding! I hope, to who ever is reading this, that you have had an awesome kick start to your summer!  I know some of you might not have a summer break, because if you're an adult, like me at the almost age of 28, then you probably have work!  Or, if you're an adult, and really like me, you chose to go in the teaching children profession, and therefore you do have a summer break!  Either way, whether you have the summer off or not, I hope you are having a wonderful start to the new season! I just got back from a fun week long road trip with my husband.  We tried to do cross country, but man is it tough being on the road for a week, let alone the three weeks we had originally planned!  We had a great time, and saw some incredible places; but road life is not the life for us!  We got home on Saturday and

The Upside of Falling Down by Rebekah Crane

Image
Hey Everyone! I found this really great sounding book on Amazon for my new Kindle, and I found myself reading it, and just couldn't get enough of it!  So I finished it! From Goodreads: For Clementine Haas, finding herself is more than a nice idea.  Ever since she woke up in an Irish hospital with complete amnesia, self-discovery has become her mission.  They tell her she's the lone survivor of a plane crash.  They tell her she's lucky to be alive.  But she doesn't feel lucky.  She feels...lost.  With the relentless Irish press bearing down on her, and a father she may not even recognize on his way from America to take her home, Clementine assumes a new identity and enlists a blue-eyed Irish stranger, Kieran O'Connell, to help her escape her forgotten life...and start a new one. Hiding out in a sleepy town of Waterville, Ireland, Clementine discovers there's an upside to a life that's fallen apart.  But as her lies grow, so does her aff

Bridal Boot Camp (Little Bridge Island #0.5) by Meg Cabot (Novella Review)

Image
Yay for Lazy Sundays! It's only a 50 page novella, but I managed to start and finish Meg Cabot's newest story, Bridal Boot Camp , which is the novella that has kicked off her new series, Little Bridge Island !  The first official novel in the series will be out in September, and it is called No Judgement .  I am so excited to read something new by Meg!  Especially an adult novel! My husband and my anniversary is coming up this week.  We are celebrating six years together!  It is on Thursday and because I'll be working, we both decided yesterday to start celebrating a little early, and enjoy a full day with each other.  He ended up giving me a brand new Kindle!  My birthday is next month and I had mentioned I would really like a new one, because mine is eight or nine years old at this point, and doesn't really hold a charge anymore.  And since the new ones have the back lit screen to make night time reading better, I was sold! I wasn't expecting to get it, espe

The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon

Image
Hey Everyone! I finished The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon this morning! From Goodreads : Natasha: I'm a girl who believes in science and facts.  Not fate.  Not destiny.  Or dreams that will never come true.  I'm definitely not the kind of girl who meets a cute boy on a crowded New York City street and falls in love with him.  Not when my family is twelve hours away from being deported to Jamaica.  Falling in love with him won't be my story. Daniel: I've always been the good son, the good student, living up to my parents' high expectations.  Never the poet.  Or the dreamer.  But when I see her, I forget about all that.  Something about Natasha makes me think that fate has something much more extraordinary in store--- for both of us. The Universe:  Every moment in our lives has brought us to this single moment.  A million futures lie before us.  Which one will come true? My Thoughts: Nicola Yoon has such a unique writing style.  In both The
