The Mortal Instruments #1-4 (The Graphic Novels) by Cassandra Clare and Art by Cassandra Jean

Image
Hey! So I'm going through a little bit of a reading slump to start off my July, but instead of putting the pressure on me to read something specific, I decided to finally read something I've been wanting to read for a long time! The Mortal Instruments Graphic Novels!  I understand why Graphic novels are pricier, they take a lot of work to make, and a lot of someone's valuable time!  But that doesn't make it easier to shell out $15 for a book that will take me less than 45 minutes to read.   But I finally did it!  I bought all four that are available so far for my birthday!   I turned 30 on the second.   THIRTY. I still can't believe I'm 30.  That is so unbelievably crazy to me.  I started The Romance Bookie when I was 19.  Practically a baby.  And now I'm a full fledged married-with-a-child-and-mortgage adult.  Crazy! Anyway on to my review! From Goodreads: The Mortal Instruments Graphic Novel #1 The first installment of ...

Random Post #10: My Top Five Favorite Authors

Image
Hey Everyone! So while I'm pretty sure I've done this post before, I just want to do it again, because who knows somethings may have changed! :) My Top Five Favorite Authors (not necessarily only because of their books, but also because of how they treat their fans!) and Why?: 1. Meg Cabot- Meg signing...she's a lefty too! Me and Meg :) I know, I know...you know! lol  Anyway Meg is amazing!  Not only is her writing hilarious and my absolute favorite things to read, especially when I'm in a funk, but she's also an amazing person!  I had the pleasure and honor of meeting Meg back in February of 2012 (Read about it HERE ), and my goodness, can I just say it was one of the best days of my life!  Meg was everything I imagined she would be!  It was like seeing all her characters come alive right in front me!  She had that exact humor as her writing does! It was awesome! 2. Cassandra Clare- Me and Cassie, March 2013 Image fro...

Update on what's been happening Book Wise in 2014! :)

Image
Hey Everyone!! So it's been a busy, yet super exciting year so far, so I thought, because it's been a while since I've done a video, that I'd do one to update you all! :) For those you not too interested in watching a boring video, I just discuss some of the events that have happened this year, both book related and on a personal level. On the personal level, I'm right now in my second month of summer break.  I've got about a month left now, it's going by so ridiculously fast!  Come end of August, I'll be starting my last year at city college and hopefully applying to transfer next year to the university I really hope to go to.  I've also been a relationship for a little over a year now with an amazing guy.  We celebrated a year together in June :). What with work, school, and fun times with friends and loved ones, it's been a crazy busy year, that's why my reading goal has dropped tremendously.  Something, I'm a...

City of Heavenly Fire (#6 in the Mortal Instrument Series) by Cassandra Clare

Image
For us readers, finishing a book can not only be an experience of happiness, happy endings, and love, but also an experience of heartbreak, love lost, and the agony of waiting...just in case if that author changes his/her mind and decides to write another book.  But just because you are broken as a reader when you finish that book, that doesn't mean you didn't love it!! No. It might mean that you are sad, because you have had to say goodbye to some of your favorite characters.  I know my fellow Harry Potter , fans can relate.  I mean come on, if you were like me, and grew up from the fourth grade all the way to the 10th grade, like me, with those characters, you know exactly what I'm talking about! At the end of May, Cassandra Clare released the last book in her Mortal Instrument Series...a series I first fell in love with in the early summer of 2011, when I first read  City of Bones . The Mortal Instruments , has been one of my favorite series of all time since ...

The Runaway Queen (The Bane Chronicles #2) by Cassandra Clare (Co-Authored by Maureen Johnson)

Image
Hey Everyone! Just another Manic Monday has begun, right? Well, anyway, I finished the second novella in The Bane Chronicles, The Runaway Queen  by Cassandra Clare, and co-authored by Maureen Johnson. I am a huge Cassandra Clare fan, and have enjoyed a couple of Maureen Johnson's books, but I was excited when I learned they co-authored a novella for this series, and had to of course get it for my Kindle right away. From Goodreads : Magnus Bane has a royal role in the French Revolution—if the angry mobs don’t spoil his spells. One of ten adventures in The Bane Chronicles. While in France, immortal warlock Magnus Bane finds himself attempting to rescue the royal family from the horrors of the French Revolution—after being roped into this mess by a most attractive count. Naturally, the daring escape calls for invisible air balloons… This standalone e-only short story illuminates the life of the enigmatic Magnus Bane, whose alluring personality populates the pages of the ...

What Really Happened in Peru (The Bane Chronicles #1) by Cassandra Clare and Sarah Rees Brennan

Image
Hey Everyone! As some of you may know, I'm a huge fan of Cassandra Clare's books!  So last year when I got to meet Cassie, along with Maureen Johnson and Sarah Rees Brennan, I was stoked on life to find out she had co-authored with both Maureen and Sarah and written a novella series, in the world of both The Mortal Instrument  and Infernal Devices  series! Well, a year later, I've FINALLY come around to reading the first book in The Bane Chronicles , entitled, What Really Happened in Peru ! What Really Happened in Peru  was written by both Cassandra Clare and Sarah Rees Brennan! From Goodreads : Fans of The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices know that Magnus Bane is banned from Peru—and now they can find out why. One of ten adventures in The Bane Chronicles. There are good reasons Peru is off-limits to Magnus Bane. Follow Magnus’s Peruvian escapades as he drags his fellow warlocks Ragnor Fell and Catarina Loss into trouble, learns several instr...

The Best of 2013! Plus Challenge Wrap up!

Image
2013!!! Where have you gone???  It feels like just yesterday that I was doing the countdown with my friends for 2013! Now I'll be doing it AGAIN tonight! 2013 was such an interesting year! When it comes to reading I started the year strong, but then it sort of dwindled around summer time. But personally I think I have a pretty good excuse for that...I met someone this year.  And while I still read, I will admit it isn't my number one priority anymore.  And to be honest, it's kind of a relief!  The last couple of years reading has become a chore to me.  Authors, publishers, agents, etc. sending me request after request, and me being the type of person who can't so no...I finally realized something...READING IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN!! So what now? you may be asking.  Is there still a future for The Romance Bookie? ABSOLUTELY! Of course!! The Romance Bookie is my baby! I have put so much hard work into getting The Romance Bookie to where is it today! But...

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones Movie Review

Image
***WARNING!!! May Contain Spoilers!!!!*** Hey Everyone!! So after what feels like years and years of waiting (in reality it was 2 years) The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones  movie FINALLY came out Wednesday! And I saw it right away Wednesday evening!!!!!!! From IMDb So let's see where to begin...overall, when not comparing it to the book I liked it.  I am a bit different to most people on the opinion of book to movie adaptations, in that I'm very open to their interpretations. Overall, what brought my heart to ease was knowing how much say Cassandra Clare had in the making of this movie, so for the most part I'm sure that the changes that were made, Cassie was okay with. So let's see changes I noticed...and this is going to be a bit difficult, because it has been over two years since I read City of Bones... I noticed that they added a few things into the first movie, that didn't actually happen until the second book. They changed Hodge's ...

Clockwork Princess (#3 in the Infernal Devices Trilogy) by Cassandra Clare

Image
***WARNING!!! MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FROM PREVIOUS BOOKS IN THE INFERNAL DEVICES TRILOGY!!!*** Let me just begin this review by saying I literally just used up half a box of tissues as I read the last 30 or so pages of Clockwork Princess . I'm a very emotional person.  Especially when it comes to the books I'm reading. I can't even tell you how many times I have cried while reading a book...just to name a few... Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince , Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Princess Forever (the 10th Princess Diaries book by Meg Cabot) , The Fault in Our Stars  by John Green, Thirteen Reasons Why  by Jay Asher...the list goes on and on! Let me also say, I fall in love with characters.  Like a deep love!  Like deep deep love!  I find myself pretending that the main character is usually my best friend, and I'm listening to her story, as I'm falling in love with the main male character of the story!  That's how it is! I can't help it!...
