Night Sky By Jolene B. Perry Blog Tour Stop!

Hello everyone! Today is Friday the 20th, also happens to be the day when I get to meet GAYLE FORMAN (If I Stay and Where She Went) tonight!! AND not to mention Stephanie Perkins (Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy Next Door)!!  I am so excited!!

Every time I get the opportunity to buy books, I seem to always forget that I've been wanting to read one of Stephanie Perkins books in like forever(!!!), so tonight I FINALLY have a real excuse to buy them!! I am super excited!!  Meeting Gayle Forman is going to be awesome! Where She Went was hands down one of my favorite books last year, and probably of all time! I just absolutely adored it!

But anyway, that's not the reason why I am here today...the real reason is because of this really awesome book called Night Sky by Jolene B. Perry.

Let me just begin by saying...OMG.

I LOVED this book!  I picked it up last week thinking to myself, "Oh I better get on to yet another book on my list, I've got that blog tour date coming up, so I guess I should start that...".  And boy was I wrong, to think "I guess..."
From the second I read the dedication page in the front of the novel, "To my husband, Mike, who proved that nice guys do exist, even in high school." I knew I was going to love this book!
I spent the entire day reading while under my warm snug covers (it was pouring rain, lightning and thunder was roaring outside! It was crazy weather!), and just kept reading and reading!  And guess what??  In the middle of me reading, just when I had gotten to a crucial point in the story...the POWER WENT OUT!!! And let me just say...I have one dark room!  So without a light, it being practically dark outside with the thick black clouds, and rain pouring down in sheets, I started freaking out!

But then guess what??

I remembered I had a night light!! I just never use it!! LOL.

Well, anyway I got back to reading and just read and read, and didn't stop until I was finished! Okay, so I probably wasted almost an entire day, just lying there in my bed, under the warm covers (don't forget those :)), but guess what?? It was totally worth it!

Night Sky is the story of Jameson, an eighteen year old boy whose just had his heart broken from rejection from his best friend, Sarah, after three years.  Except it wasn't your traditional heart break...Sarah and Jameson had just been always friends...never anything more, because he never had the courage to say anything about his feelings.  So when Jameson helps Sarah get together with her crush, it leaves him crushed along the way.

But that same night...he meets Sky.  A nineteen year old freshmen college student, who lives down the street from him and changes Jameson's life forever.

Sky, has just moved from Alaska, to Las Vegas so that she can attend college.  She lives with her grandparents, and is completely different from anyone that Jameson has ever met.

When everything starts going wrong in Jameson's life, Sky is there for him...until he realizes she has been keeping some dark secrets of her own.

Will Jameson ever truly get over Sarah?  Why are his parents acting so weird?  Why does he feel this way around Sky, even though he's only known her a few weeks?

Find out by purchasing your own copy of Night Sky by Jolene B. Perry either on Amazon, Barnes and Noble or from Smashwords.

My thoughts:

I absolutely loved this book!  I found it very refreshing first off, to be reading a contemporary romance in the point of view of a male.  The writing and story reminded me a bit of Sarah Dessen's style, but with a male main character.  I loved her writing, with quotes like "Now that they're both in view, the problem is clear.  Girl I've loved, girl I'm falling for.  Let's meet in my driveway and see if we can give Jameson his first heart attack." what's not to love about that?

Overall rating:

So that's it from me again! Enjoy your weekend everyone! And I will be sure to let you all know how my signing goes tonight, very soon! :)

  1. Mandy, trust me - I would be freaking out too if the power went out right when I got to a pivotal part of this book. I'm thrilled that you truly enjoyed Jolene's story.

I hope you have fun meeting Gayle and Stephanie today.
