The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren

 Hello!

It was close, but I completed my reading goal for June!  I read all the books, but one, from my TBR pile, and the one that I didn't, is because it became a Did-Not-Finish for now.

I'm really proud of myself, because I haven't completed a reading goal in years!

For my review today, I'll be talking about The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren! It is their latest release! :)

From Goodreads:

Single mom Jess Davis is a data and statistics wizard, but no amount of number crunching can convince her to step back into the dating world.  Raised by her grandparents -- who now help raise her seven-year-old daughter, Juno -- Jess has been left behind too often to feel comfortable letting anyone in.  After all, her father's never been around, her hard-partying mother disappeared when she was six, and her ex decided he wasn't "father material" before Juno was even born. Jess holds her loved ones close, but working constantly to stay afloat is hard...and lonely.

But then Jess hears about GeneticAlly, a buzzy new DNA-based matchmaking company that's predicted to change dating forever.  Finding a soulmate though DNA? The reliability of numbers: This Jess understands. At least she thought she did, until her test shows an unheard-of 98% compatibility with another subject in the database: GeneticAlly's founder, Dr. River Pena.  This is one number she can't wrap her head around, because she already knows Dr. Pena.  The stuck-up, stubborn man is without a doubt not her soulmate.  But GeneticAlly has proposition: Get to know him and we'll pay you. Jess-- who is barely making ends meet-- is in no position to turn it down, despite her skepticism about the project and her dislike for River.  As the pair are dragged from one event to the next as the "Diamond" pairing that could make GeneticAlly a mint in stock prices, Jess begins to realize that there might be more to the scientist -- and the science behind a soulmate-- than she thought.

Funny, warm, and full of heart, The Soulmate Equation, proves that the delicate balance between fate and choice can never be calculated.

My Thoughts:

LOVED IT!  It shouldn't have surprised me, given that I have loved Christina Lauren's books in the past!  Their humor and wit is my favorite, and I really would love to know their secret on how these two women write together, while being apart??!!  How does their writing work together so perfectly?!

I loved the concept of this one, that a soulmate can be found through DNA.  It sounds like a storyline to a Dystopian almost, but it's anything but a dystopian!  Jess is a single-mom who works her butt off while trying to be there for her daughter every step of the way.  She beats herself up a bit much, because she feels guilty how she is barely making ends meet, and doesn't know how she will pay for her daughter, Juno's ballet classes next month.  River, who starts off as sounding like an arrogant ass, turns into this super sweet person, who is absolutely adoring.  In fact, he kind of reminded me of my husband in a lot of his characteristic ways.  So of course, I just absolutely adored him!

I loved Jess's best friend, Fizzy!  I actually really hope Christina Lauren do a book on Fizzy's story.  It would surprise me, honestly!  I know The Soulmate Equation just came out, so these women deserve a vacation, but it would be awesome if that came up in the next couple of years as their next book together :).

Overall Rating:

Loved it! Definitely recommend it if you're looking for a fun sexy contemporary read!
