This is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith

Can I just say I LOVE reading a book I can use for a challenge!! :)

From Goodreads:

If fate sent you an email, would you answer?

When teenage movie star Graham Larkin accidentally sends small town girl Ellie O'Neill an email about his pet pig, the two seventeen-year-olds strike up a witty and unforgettable correspondence, discussing everything under the sun, except for their names or backgrounds.

Then Graham finds out that Ellie's Maine hometown is the perfect location for his latest film, and he decides to take their relationship from online to in-person. But can a star as famous as Graham really start a relationship with an ordinary girl like Ellie? And why does Ellie want to avoid the media's spotlight at all costs?

My Thoughts:

This is a book all about fate.  Fate of finding that one person you are meant to be with, and finding a way to stay with that person!

I was talking to one of Goodreads friends, who also happened to be reading the book at the same time, and we both were discussing how we both like books that have both realistic elements but at the same elements that the chance of them happening would be 1 in a million!

Jennifer E. Smith's This is What Happy Looks Like is exactly that kind of story!  I mean, of course I wish to run in Robert Pattinson one of these days, and the moment he sees me he falls instantly in love with me and we both live happily ever after together, but come on, people, we all know that isn't going to happen!  However, Jennifer made it happen in this story, and in a way where I found myself believing in every single moment and just screaming with excitement for these characters!

Ellie was such a refreshing person, and while most girls act crazy around a celebrity (cough...me...cough), she was awesome! She was pretty much the anti-celebrity before meeting Graham.

Graham is the biggest sweetheart ever! Just doing something he fell in love with, while keeping that humble head on his shoulders!  While he's lost and gone through some major changes over the past few years, he's still not given up, and just decided to stay as low key as possible, while attempting to keep in touch with almost estranged parents, who don't want anything to do with the Hollywood limelight.

I however, do have one tiny little complaint...while I understand Jennifer was trying to give the reader the opportunity to imagine the characters' happy ending together, I do wish she could have spelled it out more.  Sort of do an epilogue, where we get to see a few month ahead or something.  However, she decided to give it an ending that allowed the readers to make up their own decisions about what happened between Ellie and Graham, which definitely wasn't a bad thing, just you know, simple wishful thinking! :)

So for my overall rating...
This is an instant favorite of mine! What I have loved about both of Jennifer's books, The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight and This is What Happy Looks Like is her writing style!  It reminds me of one of my favorite authors, Sarah Dessen's style!  That serious element with the great contemporary romance fiction style I love to read!

This is the perfect book for any fan of Jennifer's past books, a fan of Sarah Dessen, or an absolute lover of Young Adult contemporary novels!

Definitely check it out!

True (#3 in Elixir Trilogy) by Hilary Duff

***WARNING***May contain spoilers, if you haven't read the previous books in series!!!***

So two weeks ago, I got an email from Goodreads letting me know that Hilary Duff's new book True was available NOW!  I started freaking out! I thought I still have time!

I didn't know it was being released in April already! I thought next month or June!  But no, it came out on APRIL 16th!!!! And I missed the preorder!!

So I ended up getting my copy last week, and as soon I finished the book I was reading at the time, I immediately picked up my copy of True!! The Third and FINAL book in the Elixir Trilogy!! :)

I believe I MAY have mentioned this in my reviews for Elixir and Devoted that I was and am a HUGEEEEEEEE Hilary Duff fan!! I was especially when I was growing up!! I still am a fan, and support everything Hilary Duff does in her career, because she was my role model growing up! She was just so awesome!!

Anyway now to review of True... :)

From Goodreads:

The epic love story of Clea and Sage comes to its thrilling conclusion in the final book in the Elixir series by multitalented star Hilary Duff.Following the harrowing events ofElixir and Devoted—and the ceremony that almost killed Sage—Clea faces a new reality: With Sage’s soul in Nico’s body, the love of her life looks an awful lot like her best friend’s boyfriend. Can Clea and Sage really be happy under these circumstances?

Clea wants to try to enjoy their new life together, but Sage is acting different—angry—and she struggles to keep her friends from finding out what has happened to him. Something is clearly haunting Sage, and Clea is losing control. Can she trust her friends with the dangerous truth, or will she have to risk losing Sage to madness?

My Thoughts:

So I actually had the amazing opportunity to have seen Hilary Duff twice in my life, once was for her Gibson Amphitheater, at Universal Studios Hollywood, concert for her Dignity August 15th, 2007 (yes, I still remember the date! Sue me! ;)) Then I also got to meet Hilary Duff when Elixir, the first book in this series came out, on November 11th, 2010...why do I remember that date? Well, it happened to be Veterans Day!

I will admit, while it was 100% NOT Hilary's fault, that book signing has been my least favorite one I've been to.  The people at the store rushed us so much and almost didn't let me get my book signed, because "I didn't buy it there!".  I was the ONLY person in that line who had read it! No joke! Everyone there was mainly there because it was HILARY DUFF, aka Lizzie McGuire!  I had gotten my book in my mail a few weeks earlier when it had been released, and read it right away of course!
I also was like 5th in line at that signing, and had been waiting in line for a few hours!  Hilary was super sweet, I embarrassed myself like crazy, because when I get extremely nervous...okay guys, this never leaves here...I literally start crying!  I cried when I met Hilary Duff!  Yes, I know! I get so much crap for that from my friends!

Anyway, I ALSO got to meet Elise Allen, Hilary's co-author, last February (2012) when I went to Passion and Prose!  I asked Elise the question, that a lot of people have been asking about Hilary's books, "Did she do most of the writing or did you?" (to Elise).  Elise was super awesome, and I actually got to chat with her by myself for like 15 minutes!  She told me Hilary is a true talent, and came up with the story pretty much all on her own! How awesome is that?!

So Hilary can not only sing and act, but she can also write!

ANYWAY!!!! Back on topic here!

So True...finally the ending to a series I have truly enjoyed these past few years!

I thought it was pretty good!  It was shorter than the other two books in the series, but then again Hilary just had her son Luca (he's SOOOOOOO cute!!!! But then again with a pretty mama like that and HOT hunky daddy, that's bound to happen ;)) about a year ago, so has had other things to work on!

This book was a bit different than the first two, because each chapter switched off between Clea's point of view, and her best friend Rayna's.

I will admit, I enjoy Clea's POV more than Rayna.  Rayna is a bit whiny and valley girl for me.  A total space case, getting of topic, which definitely wasn't Hilary's writing, it was how she wanted Rayna to be portrayed!

Other than that, it was interesting!

There was one thing I'm still confused about...maybe I forgot from Devoted, but I honestly thought Clea's father might have still been alive, and they were looking for him??? But it wasn't answered!  So I'm hoping I forgot that part from Devoted, and just spaced myself!

Overall rating:

I liked it!  I thought, over than the part about Clea's father, it had a great ending! Exactly what the readers were hoping for I think.  I will admit I am shocked that Rayna and Clea's relationship survived after what happened between them, but then again, best friends are forever! Right?!

It was cute, and I would definitely recommend it to fans of this series! Plus to those who were Hilary Duff fans growing up! Plus those who are looking for a good fantasy series!

Check it out! :) You can get your copy at Amazon or Barnes and Noble!

Crescendo (#2 in Hush, Hush Series) by Becca Fitzpatrick

Yes!! I have had this one sitting on my shelf for over a year now! I read the first in Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush, Hush Series back in December of 2011, and I ended up buying the second book Crescendo almost immediately thereafter.  And believe me, when I say I've been wanting to read this book, since buying it!! However, due to requests, blog tours, and other obligations I either haven't had the time or forgot every time I did have the chance!

But now I finally have!! :)

And it was awesome!

From Goodreads:

Crescendo (Hush, Hush, #2)
Nora Grey's life is still far from perfect. Surviving an attempt on her life wasn't pleasant, but at least she got a guardian angel out of it. A mysterious, magnetic, gorgeous guardian angel. But despite his role in her life, Patch has been acting anything but angelic. He's more elusive than ever (if that's possible) and what's worse, he seems to be spending time with Nora's archenemy, Marcie Millar.

Nora would have hardly noticed Scott Parnell, an old family friend who has moved back to town, if Patch hadn't been acting so distant. Even with Scott's totally infuriating attitude, Nora finds herself drawn to him - despite her lingering feelings that he is hiding something.

If that weren't enough, Nora is haunted by images of her murdered father, and comes to question whether her Nephilim bloodline has anything to do with his death. Desperate to figure out what happened, she puts herself in increasingly dangerous situations to get the answer. But maybe some things are better left buried, because the truth could destroy everything - and everyone - she trusts.

My Thoughts:

Wow! This book was so unbelievably gripping!! It's over 400 pages, and I read in less than two days! That rarely happens!! A book has to be really good for me to do that!

I was sad that Nora and Patch had a rough patch (ha-ha) in this one, but overall I found this story so intriguing!  It has me hooked because I want to keep finding out more and more!

I was a bit scared there for a moment, because Patch came off as a total jack-ass in this one!  There were moments where I was like "NO!!!!!!!! It can't be!!!!", but luckily, because I've heard about somewhat what the next two in the series are like, I wasn't too worried!! :)

Overall rating:
Becca Fitzpatrick has created a world I don't want to leave! While dark and dangerous, her characters are so unbelievably intriguing!  While, I will admit, Patch, is an awful name for a hot character, you can't help but fall for this guy! I mean, seriously, tall, dark, AND dangerous...that just screams "Ooh-La-La" to me!! ;)

I highly recommend this one to paranormal young adult readers! This is one series you don't want to miss!

If you haven't read the first in the series Hush, Hush (Barnes and Noble), then do it!!! :)

Thanks everyone! And talk to you next time! :)

Wow, LOVE that cover!!!

Can't wait to read it, but first I've still got to read book 2! :)

The first time they were sent down, Irish lives were led. Emily, the angel, ended up embedded in murder and lost in the realm of true love. While Matthew, the warrior, took over a life that left blood on his hands and anger in his soul.

With their second coming, Emily found herself facing an oncoming war that brought her to the shores of America. While Matthew tried desperately to unveil the evil character of a young man who was intent on locking his partner in a ‘gilded’ cage.

Now...Emily and Matthew find that their lives are all their own. Yet, all the memories, hatred, longing and regret have come hand-in-hand with this newfound freedom.

In small town U.S.A., Matthew finds himself loving his new life. From his military school existence to a new, ‘odd’ friend who’s arrived in town, Matthew’s looking forward to graduation and heading off into a brilliant future with Emily by his side.

Emily wants nothing more than to hide. Without a word, Matthew reached out, took Emily by the hand and pulled her down beside him. He looked into her eyes and smiled. “I knew my Emily was still in there.”

Out of the blue, the room became incredibly hot, as if Gabriel had entered in order to give a lesson to his favorite students. “What?”

“That spark.” He pulled Emily’s face closer before she could push herself away. “You’ve been acting all this time like you’re just here to sit and wait it out until you’re lucky enough to go Home. But you’re still in there, Emily. You still have all that energy and belief in there and you want to do something. That’s the partner I know.”

Shaking her head, Emily listened to her own breathing intensify as she stared at his full lips and wondered why she felt so completely and utterly strange...vulnerable even. “I want to help this girl. This is a job, maybe my only job down here. She saw a ghost and she wants me to help her out, that’s all.”

“And you will.” Matthew captured Emily’s lips, and she could no longer feel the breath in her lungs. Completely different than the one kiss they’d shared up above so long ago, this one was far more demanding, as if Matthew was a young man determined to kiss his human love for the very first time.

Sitting back, Emily practically jumped off the bed.

“I’m sorry,” she heard him whisper behind her. “I guess I was just excited to see you again.”

Not trusting her voice, she remained silent.

“We have jobs, but we also have a life to live. Our own lives this time around. Maybe you should think about adding that into your angelic plans.” Matthew continued softly, “Jason isn’t here, Emily.”

The name being said out loud sent a chill down Emily’s spine. It reminded her of the vow she’d made a long time ago—a vow that an angel couldn’t break.

She cleared her throat. “It doesn’t matter if he’s here. We were sent to do a job, and maybe helping this little girl prove her story is what I need to begin.”

Standing up, Matthew looked as if he was a man who wanted nothing more than to turn back the clock and erase the name he’d spoken aloud. He walked to the open window. “Well, I hope the job goes well. Good luck with it.”

“Matthew,” Emily took a step toward him. “Don’t leave like this.”

He nodded at the book on the bed. “You have your mission, Emily...your job. Ghosts, goblins, lost souls—knock yourself out.” He took a deep breath. “I wonder when you’re going to figure out that the living souls around you would like some of your attention as well.”

Closing her eyes, Emily shed silent tears as she heard his feet hit the ground beneath her window. A friend, a partner, the one who actually listened, was now just an angry young man racing back to The Armory—a place where warriors reigned.

Emily sighed. She’d done it again. No matter how hard she tried to be good, her mouth always got her into trouble. She needed Matthew to understand. She’d made a promise to a young man a long time ago; a promise that was supposed to last for eternity. How was she to know at the time that their eternity would include death by her hand? Had the second time around broken their vow? Emily had no idea. But whatever happened she could not and would not offer Matthew her heart if payment was still due for her past sins. Above all, Matthew was the last person who deserved to be punished for her mistakes.

A State of Jane by Meredith Schorr Review

Finally!! Another book off of my review list! I'm so happy to be finally reading these! :)

From Goodreads:
A State of Jane

Jane Frank is ready to fall in love. It's been a year since her long term relationship ended and far too long since the last time she was kissed. With the LSAT coming up she needs to find a long term boyfriend (or husband) before acing law school and becoming a partner in her father's law firm. There's just one problem: All the guys in New York are flakes. They seemingly drop off the face of the earth with no warning and no explanation. Should she join her best friend Marissa in singlehood, making cupcakes and watching True Blood? Or should she follow her co-worker Andrew's advice and turn the game back on those who scorned her? As Jane attempts to juggle her own responsibilities and put up with the problems of everyone around her, she starts to realize the dating life isn't as easy as she originally thought.

My Thoughts:

Overall, Meredith has written a great story when it comes to A State of Jane!  It had an intriguing story line, very relate able for all us single ladies out there in the world, and some great characters!

However, at the same time it also has a character I was not a huge fan of...Jane, the MAIN character.
Written in the point of view of Jane, I often got very annoyed when Jane did something, complained about something, messed something up unintentionally.  I know she is bummed she hasn't found "the one", believe I'm looking too; however, I've been known not to have much tolerance for those people who complain about it, especially if they've had a great guy before!  Jane was this character!

I found it amazing when her sister set her straight and told her she was selfish b&*%h , and just told her she has no idea how bad life can get!

Jane has had it easy, without truly knowing it, and always taking it for granted; which made it very satisfying for me when in the end, Jane finally realized so!

Overall rating:

I thought this was a cute light read!  Pretty short, only 266 pages, so it went by pretty fast on my Kindle.  And while, throughout the novel the main character bothered me, I was very glad to hear that by the beginning she had at least changed towards her friends and family!

Schorr did a great job with this story, when it comes to writing, and her other characters, and the overall idea behind the story!  I would recommend this one to single ladies, or women looking for a cute light romance read!

You can get your copy of A State of Jane either at Barnes and Noble or Amazon! :)

Reflected In You (#2 in Crossfire Trilogy) by Sylvia Day

From Goodreads:

Gideon Cross. As beautiful and flawless on the outside as he was damaged and tormented on the inside. He was a bright, scorching flame that singed me with the darkest of pleasures. I couldn't stay away. I didn't want to. He was my addiction... my every desire... mine.My past was as violent as his, and I was just as broken. We’d never work. It was too hard, too painful... except when it was perfect. Those moments when the driving hunger and desperate love were the most exquisite insanity. We were bound by our need. And our passion would take us beyond our limits to the sweetest, sharpest edge of obsession...

My Thoughts:
Reflected In You is the the second book in the Crossfire Trilogy! While, I admit I enjoyed this one, because of the dynamic relationship between Gideon and Eva, I will admit that at the same time it got to  be a bit much for me at times.

Their relationship is one giant roller coaster!  One second they are the happiest couple in the world, the next they are fighting, and breaking up! No joke! From one paragraph to the next.  I get it, relationships can be like that...but every fight being like that??? Yeah, a bit much...

Both have really messed up pasted, which is something Gideon, unfortunately, isn't so open about towards Eva...but here's the thing...do you want to know how long they've been together when this second book takes place??

A little over a MONTH!!
Not kidding!

For that fact they act like a really f*&^ed up married couple!

I will give them this...they have passion!  The reader can definitely tell they love each other, and while at times it seems that love is mainly about the sex, because every time they fight they end up having it, BEFORE anything is resolved!

Overall rating:
I'm giving this one 3 and a half bookies!

I will admit one thing...this series is addicting!  Why?  Because of Eva and Gideon's relationship!  The reader wants to know more and more!  Especially when it comes to Gideon and his past!

This book is SOOOOOO much better written than Fifty Shades of Grey, it isn't even funny!  The story is better, and let's just say...umm...Gideon and Eva aren't like Ana and Grey in that they aren't really into...ummm...experimenting sexually...

So yes I am definitely looking forward to reading the final book in the series, Entwined with You, which hits shelves June 4th!

The Boyfriend App by Katie Sise (ARC Review)

Yay!!! Another ARC off of the Review list!! :)

And a good one at that!

From Goodreads:

The Boyfriend App

In The Boyfriend App by Katie Sise, super-smart, somewhat geeky Audrey McCarthy can’t wait to get out of high school. Her father’s death and the transformation of her one-time BFF, Blake Dawkins, into her worst nightmare have her longing for the new start college will bring.

But college takes money. So Audrey decides she has to win the competition for the best app designed by a high schooler—and the $200,000 that comes with it. She develops something she calls the Boyfriend App, and suddenly she’s the talk of the school and getting kissed by the hottest boys around. But can the Boyfriend App bring Audrey true love?

My Thoughts:

The Boyfriend App by Katie Sise was a pleasant surprise! It had a classic love story with this unique twist, in that the main character, Audrey, really knew her tech stuff!!  It was interesting, yet at the same time I will admit I had no idea what some of those terms meant...however, one thing is for sure!!

How cool would it be if there was an app that told when your perfect match was within 5 yards of you???  That would be awesome!!

Overall rating:
I truly enjoyed it!  It was a cute contemporary romance, with some over the top moments, but overall super cute with that unique twist of having a super smart female character who is a kick-a#$ computer hacker!
Definitely recommend this one to teens!  :)

You can get your copy of Katie Sise's The Boyfriend App on April 30th, or preorder it now on Amazon or Barnes and Noble! :)

Clockwork Princess (#3 in the Infernal Devices Trilogy) by Cassandra Clare

Let me just begin this review by saying I literally just used up half a box of tissues as I read the last 30 or so pages of Clockwork Princess.
I'm a very emotional person.  Especially when it comes to the books I'm reading.
I can't even tell you how many times I have cried while reading a book...just to name a few...Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Princess Forever (the 10th Princess Diaries book by Meg Cabot), The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher...the list goes on and on!

Let me also say, I fall in love with characters.  Like a deep love!  Like deep deep love!  I find myself pretending that the main character is usually my best friend, and I'm listening to her story, as I'm falling in love with the main male character of the story!  That's how it is! I can't help it!

Well, Clockwork Princess was no exception...

From Goodreads:

Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices, #3)
Danger and betrayal, secrets and enchantment in the breathtaking conclusion to the Infernal Devices trilogy.

Tessa Gray should be happy - aren't all brides happy?
Yet as she prepares for her wedding, a net of shadows begins to tighten around the Shadowhunters of the London Institute.
A new demon appears, one linked by blood and secrecy to Mortmain, the man who plans to use his army of pitiless automatons, the Infernal Devices, to destroy the Shadowhunters. Mortmain needs only one last item to complete his plan. He needs Tessa. And Jem and Will, the boys who lay equal claim to Tessa's heart, will do anything to save her.

My Thoughts:
I cried!  Like no joke, literally cried! Snot, tissues, tears rolling down the face, heaving as I'm trying to catch my breath...it ALL happened as I was finishing this book!

I had my suspicions, some changed as I was reading this book, and honestly in the end they almost all came true!  I was totally right about the big thing!!!!!!!!!!  (Hint, hint...it involves Jem!).

I read City of Bones by Cassandra Clare (the first in the Mortal Instrument series) almost two years ago and absolutely got sucked into the craze!  I had had it sitting on my shelf for probably over two or three year before I had even considered picking it up, just because another book always got in the way!

But boy, am I glad I read it!

Last year, right before the release of Cassie's Clockwork Prince, I picked up my copy of Clockwork Angel and got sucked into Cassie's world once again, but this time in the past!

Last month when I got to meet Cassandra Clare I got to pick up my copy of Clockwork Princess.  And while, I saw many people who started reading their copies as soon as I received them, I found myself not being able to!  Why?  Because I was sad that it was the last book! I have a serious problems with endings!! I love them, but I hate reading them at the same time, because I'm sad that it's the last book with these characters that I have fallen in love with!

Well, after reading it for almost two weeks, I finally finished the third and final book in the Infernal Devices Trilogy, Clockwork Princess!
And while it took me quite some time, and some people might take that as I sign as I hated it, well, those people couldn't be more wrong!

Overall rating...
As soon as I finished that last page, and was still waiting for the tears to dry off of my face, I put this book on my "All Time Favorite Books" list! It was amazing! It was everything I could have hoped for, and while the ending was absolutely devastating, it couldn't have had a better ending!  At least one, that made sense to the overall story!
It was perfect!
And while, many have said whether you're Team Will or Team Jem, throughout these series, I believe both readers will be happy!  But at the same time, as much as I love Jem, I will be forever more Team Will! ;)

Definitely read it!! You can get your copy of Clockwork Princess either at Barnes and Noble or Amazon!
But DON'T forget to read Books 1 and 2 first!!! Clockwork Angel & Clockwork Prince!!!!

OHHHH and before I forget I have a warning!!! If you want to be 100% surprised by the ending DO NOT LOOK AT THE FAMILY TREES THAT CASSIE ADDED BEHIND THE BOOK JACKET OF THE HARDCOVER EDITION OF CLOCKWORK PRINCESS!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone! :)
