From the Notebooks of a Middle School Princess: Royal Crush (#3) by Meg Cabot

Image
Hey Everyone! So once again, it's been a few months.  I don't even know what is my life anymore, to be honest.  Let's see what has happened since my last post... 1.  I graduated!  I officially have my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Studies! 2.  My husband and I had a wedding celebration for all our friends and family.  We had quite a bit of family from Germany come for the occasion, which was amazing <3. 3.  My husband and I got a three day mini-getaway to beautiful Palm Springs.  That was amazing! 4.  I just got a promotion for my job, and a second job! Life has been crazy. This past year...I just don't know.  Next month, it will be a year, since I lost my dad.  That's been hitting me more and more.  Overall though, this summer has just been spent attempting to recuperate a bit.  Things have been a bit everywhere though, just taking care of a lot of things, that I couldn't while doing school.  Withou...

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine's #1) by Ransom Riggs (Audiobook)

Image
Hey Everyone, I actually cannot believe I am writing this review right now, because to be honest, there are a thousand other things that I need to be doing right now, but I am so ready for my yearly book event tomorrow (YALL WEST!!!) that I just couldn't wait to finally be able to write a review again! So I do have some exciting news... After months and months of the sh*# that my life has become I got some good news last Friday.  Not only am I graduating on May 20th, with my bachelor's in Early Childhood Studies, but I will also be graduating with Honors!  This has been the ultimate goal since I lost my dad in September. I knew I had to keep going, I knew my dad would want me to finish school; and for my own goal I wanted to make him extra proud by graduating with honors.  And I did it. But school is not over just yet.  I have made my final homework list!  Which means as soon as I get through this list of things to do for school...I am officially done wi...

Valentine Princess (#7.75 in The Princess Diaries Series) by Meg Cabot

Image
Hey Everyone!!! Thanks to Alex over at  A Girl, Books and Other Things  I won a copy of Meg Cabot's Valentine Princess, the one and only book in The Princess Diaries Series  that I had not owned yet...and I hadn't even known that!!!!! Well, any thank you Alex!!!! I loved it!! :) From Goodreads : Valentine's Day means flowers, chocolates, and all-out romance. That is, it usually means those things. But when you're Princess Mia, nothing happens the way it's supposed to. For one thing, Grandmère seems determined to prove   that boy   (or Michael, as he is commonly known) isn't the right one for the crown princess of Genovia. And Mia isn't having much luck proving otherwise, since Michael has a history of being decidedly against any kind of exploitative commercialization (Valentine's Day, as it is commonly known). Boris can declare his love openly to Lilly, and even Kenny comes through with a paltry Whitman's Sampler. So why can't Michael...

The Swift Boys & Me by Kody Keplinger (Review)

Image
Hey Everyone!! Kody Keplinger, one of my absolute favorite authors came out with her Middle Grade Debut this year, and I've finally gotten the chance to read it, after I was able to pick it up last Monday at  Maggie Stiefvater Signing ! From Goodreads : Nola Sutton has been best friends and neighbors with the Swift boys for practically her whole life. There’s the youngest, Kevin, who never stops talking; the oldest, Brian, who’s always kind and calm; and then there’s Canaan, the ringleader and Nola’s best-best friend. Nola can’t imagine her life without the Swift boys — they’ll always be like this, always be friends. But then everything changes overnight. When the Swifts’ daddy leaves without even saying good-bye, it completely destroys the boys, and all Nola can do is watch. Kevin stops talking and Brian is never around. Even Canaan is drifting away from Nola — hanging out with the neighborhood bullies instead of her. Nola just wants things to go back to the way they were...

Meg-A Readers Week! Day 5: Sweet Sixteen Princess (The Princess Diaries #7.5) (GIVEAWAY!)

Image
Hey! Day 5 Part 2 of Meg-A Readers Week!! Princess Diaries Edition! :) For Part 2 of today, I've got a review of Sweet Sixteen Princess  (#7.5 in The Princess Diaries Series )! From Goodreads : Sixteen is the magic number Mia doesn't always have the best luck with parties, so even though it's her sweet sixteenth, she doesn't want a birthday bash. As usual, Grandmere has other ideas, and thinks a reality TV special is just the thing in order to celebrate royally. The whole scheme smacks of Lilly's doing -- Lilly, whose own TV show is still only limited to local cable viewers. Will Mia be able to stop Grandmere's plan? Will her friends ever forgive her if she does stop it, since it involves all of them taking the royal jet to Genovia for an extravaganza the likes of which would turn even Paris Hilton green with envy? Why can't Mia get what she really wants: an evening alone with Michael? With a little luck, this sweet sixteen prince...

Meg-A Readers Week! Day 5: Party Princess (The Princess Diaries #7) by Meg Cabot (Giveaway!)

Image
Hey Everyone!! It's Day 5 of Meg-A Readers 2014!! And for my first review today I've got Party Princess  (#7 in The Princess Diaries Series )! From  Goodreads : Princess just want to have fun . . . And Mia does too, despite the fact that the student government over which she presides is suddenly broke. But Grandmere's got a wacky scheme to raise the money, catapult Mia to theatrical fame, and link her romantically with an eligible teen bachelor who's not her boyfriend. No wonder Michael seems to think she's a psycho, or worse: not much fun. Is it possible that Mia, soon-to-be star of the stage, president of the student body, and future ruler of Genovia, doesn't know how to party? My Thoughts: This is the one where Mia completely humiliates herself in front of not only her brother's fellow college classmates, but also in front of her friends.  It's pretty funny, yet at the same time I cringe every single time I read that part. In...

Meg-A Readers Week! Day 4: The Princess Present (#6.5 in The Princess Diaries Series) by Meg Cabot (Novella Review) (Giveaway!)

Image
Hey Everyone! :) Happy Meg-A Readers Day!! From Goodreads : Mia would give all the jewels in Genovia for the perfect present Every year, Princess Mia spends the holidays in Genovia with Grandmère. This year, she's looking forward to the most perfect Christmas ever: her boyfriend, Michael, and her best friend, Lilly, are coming to Genovia, too. But even a princess's plans can go awry. Lilly has a lot to learn about palace protocol, and with all the state holiday functions Mia must attend, there's no time to linger under the mistletoe with Michael. Worst of all, Mia hasn't been able to find him the perfect gift. Can Mia stop her (bah-hum)bugging long enough to see that the perfect present has nothing to do with international express courier -- and everything to do with real love? (Though some shiny silver ribbon never hurts ...) My Thoughts: I love that Meg made these little novella's inbetween!  They are so adorable, and fun to read, especially ...

Meg-A Readers Week!! IT'S MEG CABOT DAY!!!! Day 4: Princess in Training (Princess Diaries #6) by Meg Cabot (Giveaway!)

Image
Meg-A Readers Week!! Day 4!!! Before I get to my first review of the day, I just want to say... HAPPY MEG CABOT DAY!!!!!!!! Yes, today is seriously Meg Cabot Day!!!! The mayor of Bloomington, Indiana (the hometown of Meg!) pronounced July 31st, Meg Cabot Day!!   Today's first review is of Meg's 6th book in the Princess Diaries Series, Princess in Training ! From Goodreads : Princess for president! Student body president, that is -- nominated by her power-mad best friend, Lilly. This is not how Mia imagined kicking off her sophomore year, but as usual, she has bigger problems to worry about, like Geometry. And now that Mia's one true love, Michael, is uptown at college, what's the point of even getting up for school in the morning? But the last straw is what Lana whispers to her on the lunch line about what college boys expect of their girlfriends. . . . Really, it's almost more than a princess in training can bear! My Thoughts: As most of yo...

Meg-A Readers Week! Day 3: Princess in Pink (Princess Diaries #5) by Meg Cabot (Giveaway!)

Image
Day 3 Part of Meg-A Readers Week!! :) Princess In Pink, #5 in The Princess Diaries Series!! :) From Goodreads : Princess Mia is dreaming about the prom - and contending with a hotel workers' strike - in the fifth, supremely hilarious episode of Meg Cabot's Princess Diaries. This time, Mia's in the pink about the upcoming Albert Einstein H.S. prom, and she's crossing her fingers that Michael will ask her to go. (They're in love, so why wouldn't he ask her, right?) But during Seven Minutes in Heaven at her b-day party, Mia learns that Michael is not the prom-going type. Good grief, what's a princess to do?   To make matters worse, Grandmere has gotten a busboy fired due to a mishap with her pooch, Rommel, at a swanky restaurant, so when all of the city's busboys go on strike, it causes a chain of events that result in Grandmere crashing at Mia's mom's place, her pal Lilly Moscovitz picking up a picket sign, and the prom being brought ...

Meg-A Readers Week! Day 2: Princess in Love (The Princess Diaries #3) by Meg Cabot (Meg-A-Readers) (GIVEAWAY!)

Image
Day 2 of Meg-A Readers Week!! Princess In Love, the third Princess Diaries, by Meg Cabot is my absolute favorite book in the entire world!!!!! Coming from a book lover, I understand how crazy that sounds! I know, trust me! But when you've read a book three billion times (okay, not quite that much, but probably at least a dozen times) and you still haven't gotten tired of it, you know it's your favorite book!! From Goodreads: Princess Amelia Mignonette Grimaldi Thermopolis Renaldo may seem the luckiest girl ever. She's a princess, for starters. She also lives in New York City. And while she's no supermodel, mirrors do not crack at her reflection. Best of all, she finally has a boyfriend. The truth is, however, that Mia spends all her time doing one of three things: preparing for her nerve-racking entree into Genovian society under the slave-driving but elegant Grandmere, slogging through congestion unique to Manhattan in December, and avoiding further ...

Meg-A Readers Recap #7 (Review of "How to Be Popular"!)

Image
Hey Everyone! Week 7 has come and gone for Meg-A Readers and now it's time for that recap!! :) But first it's time for my weekly Meg Cabot themed tidbit! :) This week I've got a review of Meg's How to Be Popular , which I started during the Meg-A Readers Read-A-Thon, but unfortunately was unable to finish in time, just because this summer has been CRAZY!! Anyway... From  Goodreads : Do you want to be popular? Everyone wants to be popular or at least, Stephanie Landry does. Steph's been the least popular girl in her class since a certain cherry Super Big Gulp catastrophe five years earlier. Does being popular matter? It matters very much to Steph. That's why this year, she has a plan to get in with the It Crowd in no time flat. She's got a secret weapon: an old book called what else? "How to Be Popular." What does it take to be popular? All Steph has to do is follow the instructions in The Book, and soon she'll be partying wit...

The End of 2012 Part 2 (Favorite Blogging Moments)

Image
Hey Everyone! So this is Part 2 of my End of 2012 Post! Wow what a year, right?! It feels like so much happened! The most Memorable Moments of this year for me were: (Top 5, I'll start with 5, and then my MOST memorable moment is #1!) #5: Screenshot I took while watching the Premiere of BD2 on Yahoo! :) Robert Pattinson was staying in my TOWN over the summer!! Okay, so it wasn't for the best circumstances (during the Kristen Stewart scandal), but none the less he was staying less than like 2-4 miles away from my house!! How awesome is that?!  IF only I could have met him!! Sigh... haha :) #4: Meg-A-Readers!! WOW, that was SO much fun to host!! I honestly didn't think much would come out of it, because I thought I wouldn't be able to get my voice heard!  With the thanks of Diana we were able to make it happen!  And it was super fun!  We'll be hosting again next year, so if you're a Meg Cabot fan, and a blogger, send me an email and I'll add...

The Toadhouse Trilogy (Book #1) by Jess Lourey

Image
Jess Lourey emailed me a few months ago and told me about her fascinating unique new novel, The Toadhouse Trilogy Book 1 , about two children traveling throughout the world of books! I was definitely intrigued, to say the least! Well, I finally got to it and let me just say I was not disappointed! From Goodreads : Aine (pronounced "Aw-nee") believes herself to be a regular teenager in 1930s Alabama, but when a blue-eyed monster named Biblos attacks, she discovers that the reclusive woman raising her isn't really her grandmother and that she's been living inside a book for the past five years. With her blind brother, Spenser, she flees the pages of the novel she's called home, one terrifying step ahead of Biblos' black magic. Her only chance at survival lies in beating him to the three objects that he desires more than life. As she undertakes her strange and dangerous odyssey, Aine must choose between a family she doesn't remember and her g...
