Picture Perfect by Alessandra Thomas Blog Tour! (Review)

***WARNING***This Book contains Adult Content not intended for under 17 years olds!!***

Yay! So excited to be a part of the Picture Perfect Blog Tour today!! Picture Perfect by Alessandra Thomas was released this past Tuesday!

From Goodreads:
Fashion design major Cat Mitchell has a closet full of gorgeous clothes - and not a single thing fits. After two years of runway modeling for easy cash, an accident shattered her lower leg bone and her self-esteem in just one swift fall. Ten months of no exercise, prescription steroids, comfort eating and yoga pants meant returning to campus as a size twelve instead of her former size two.

When her gorgeous long-time friend with benefits sees her for the first time after her accident and snubs her in front of all her friends, Cat’s self-image hits rock bottom. Her sorority sisters all insist that she looks gorgeous, but all Cat sees is the roll of her stomach when she sits down, or the dimpling at the back of her thighs that wasn't there last year. Cat’s therapist prescribes something radical to stop the downward spiral - nude modeling for a nearby college's human form drawing classes.

When Cat faces her fears and bares it all for the class, she realizes that she's posing naked in front the most gorgeous, buffest guy she's ever seen in her life. He asks her out after the class, and after one steamy night together, Cat's absolutely smitten.

Nate’s pretty close to perfect – he takes Cat rock climbing when he discovers that it makes her feel strong and becomes a great chef after he learns that the perfect pesto sauce makes her swoon. Cat starts to feel like her old self again - confident and beautiful - as long as Nate's around. Even when he discourages her from entering the Real Woman Project, a design competition for plus-sized apparel, she reasons that he's just trying to prevent old body image wounds from splitting wide open again.

But when Cat goes home with Nate for Thanksgiving, she discovers something shocking from his recent past that proves that he hasn’t always been so encouraging of women of all shapes and sizes. Cat has no idea what to think, but she does know one thing - this might destroy their relationship before it's even had a chance to get off the ground.

Before Cat can figure out whether the real Nate is the sensitive, adoring guy she fell in love with, or an undercover asshole, she'll have to finally feel comfortable in her own skin - even if it means leaving him forever.

(This book contains sex and adult language.)

My Thoughts:

First off, wow, that is a long Goodreads description!!
And second, WOW I loved this book!!!!!!!

I was honestly a bit worried when I first started it.  Why? Because it dealt with yet another character who had been skinny before gaining a bit of weight!  I read this one book a few years ago that dealt with a somewhat similar situation, and lets just say it's one of my least favorite books EVER!

Main characters that a bit more voluptuous is always a type of book I like to read.  I myself, am the a Size 14, which in the words of Meg Cabot, "Is the size of the average American woman!", so when I found out what issues this book deals with, I jumped at the chance at reading early!

Cat is also a size 14, which at first she has a really tough time dealing with!  Which of course is understandable, especially if we were super thin beforehand, and now are getting nasty comments from jackass guys!  While I was worried at first that I'd be reading about a character that continues to whine and whine throughout the book about her weight, I got a refreshing story that felt very relate able, and gave the reader a couple of characters and a storyline that will have you wanting more and more!

Absolutely great book!

Overall rating:
I loved it and highly recommend it to readers! This is a New Adult genre book, which means it deals with college kids, sex, and some graphic content and language! So keep that in mind!

You can get your copy at Amazon! :)

Wanderlust Blog Tour! (Guest Post)

Hello Everyone! :)

Today I'd like to welcome Elieba Levine! :) She's been awesome, and made a guest post for all of us! :) She's hear celebrating the release of her book Wanderlust!! :)

So please welcome Elieba!!

As far back as I can remember I always wanted to travel the world.  Exotic places, different clothing, unknown smells, foreign languages forever intrigued me, and still do.

As soon as I got the opportunity I left the U.S. to see the world and all the places I had dreamed of.

I was away for six months and they were the happiest and most interesting six months of my life.

Upon my return, lunching with my editor in New York I  described the many intriguing moments of my trip.  She suggested that I use my travels and experiences as a backdrop to an erotic novel.  I agreed and that is how Wanderlust came to be written.

The book sold so well that two other books followed.....Interludes and Escapes.
Therefore the trip became a success in many areas of my life, and I am grateful to have had such a wonderful journey.

Thank you Elieba for stopping by The Romance Bookie! :)

You can get your copy of Wanderlust either on Barnes and Noble or Amazon!!

The Cassandra Clare Experience that I ALMOST Missed!! (PLUS INTERNATIONAL GIVEAWAY!!!)

Hey Everyone!
Can I just say I had one of the most amazing nights Friday night!!

So rewind....

Let's start from the beginning...

Once upon a time my fabulous mom and I went on a little road trip.  We left at 1:00 p.m. the house, with directions in hand that told us it would take about 2 hrs. and 20 minutes to get there.

Well, thanks to the beautiful view of Los Angeles traffic, and the most crappy directions EVER, it took almost SIX hours to get there!!!!!!!!!! No freaking joke!!!

Mapquest SKIPPED a step on the directions so we ended up going on the wrong freeway, and getting over an hour off track!!

Thanks to wonderful lady at A Whale of a Tale Bookshoppe, who had the technology needed to actually travel, not just paper directions, we were able to find our way back on track!!

The event was supposed to start at 6 p.m., and we didn't arrive at the Mission Viejo Library until almost 7.
When my mom and I drove into the parking lot of the library, do you know what we saw???

I honestly couldn't believe this...

We, unfortunately, missed the beginning of Cassandra Clare's speech, but because Cassie was ALSO stuck in the wonderful LA traffic, we were able to still hear a little bit of the speech!!

With our first edition copies of Clockwork Princess in hand...

we waited for Cassie to sign for all 6 groups.  My mom and I were in the last group, because of our late arrival, which honestly I was totally fine with, because being last meant possibly not being rushed as much...

So finally, after waiting about an hour...

I was standing in line, waiting...

And then... along the way, I got to meet another author, whose books I truly enjoyed a few years ago...

I got to meet Maureen Johnson!! The author of 13 Little Blue Envelopes and The Last Little Blue Envelope!!!!

And THEN FINALLY to the moment of the hour...heck the week...NO THE MONTH!!!!!!!

Me talking to Cassie

Cassie and Me!!
So here's the thing guys! Do you want to know just how awesome Cassie is??

Well, where to begin??

Okay, so at the beginning of the signing we found out that we were only allowed to have three books signed by Cassie, plus however many copies of Clockwork Princess we had bought.  Well, me being me, brought my ENTIRE Cassandra Clare collection! No joke!  So I, with my mom, showed up with a total of eleven copies!!! Why eleven, when there are only a total of 8 in both the Infernal Devices series and the Mortal Instruments series?? Well, I ended up buying at the signing a hardcover version of City of Ashes and City of Glass, because I could not find them anywhere online under the price of $60!!!  Which is ridiculous!!
So I ended up showing up to the table with TWO copies each of City of Bones, City of Ashes, and City of Glass!!

And guess what? Because I was the last one, and because I ended up talking to Cassie's publisher, who I'd gotten into a conversation with about my awful trip down there, involving traffic, terrible directions, and the wrong freeway for over an hour, and told her that I'd come all that way...well, she told Cassie, and Cassie was really happy about it!  And told me, to wait up, because she wanted to give me a gift out of her tour bus!!

Which is totally awesome of course!!!!!!!!

It's a really awesome bracelet that has a charm that is inspired by Will Herondale's Family Ring! :)

Cassie was so unbelievably nice!  The whole trip, while at first difficult, and almost not possible because of the time lost, was just great! It ended so amazing! :)

Let me just say a HUGE thank you to my Mom!!!!!

The picture that ended the night! :)
And thank you Cassie for everything! You made the night absolutely memorable and special!! Thank YOU!!!!!!!

So just to end this post, first off, here is my overall haul from the night:

OH WAIT!!! What about the giveaway???

Oh right!!!

So here goes!

This one is international folks!  I am giving away two of those fabulous pins, one of those cards, and a cellphone charm inspired by the runes from the series! :)

This one is INTERNATIONAL TOO!! :) a Rafflecopter giveaway

Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire Blog Tour (ARC Review)

So let me just begin by saying I'm sooooooooo darn excited right now!!! Why??

Well, I'm a stop on the Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire Blog Tour!!!!!!!!

So I received Walking Disaster a few weeks ago in the mail, and wow!  I seriously pretty much ate that book alive!

From Goodreads:
Finally, the highly anticipated follow-up to the New York Times bestseller Beautiful Disaster. Can you love someone too much?
Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.

In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. But just when he thinks he is invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.

Every story has two sides. In Beautiful Disaster, Abby had her say. Now it’s time to see the story through Travis’s eyes.

My Thoughts:

So first off, it's been almost two years since I read Beautiful Disaster (if you don't believe me, go HERE!)!  I read it when it was still independently published by Jamie, and instantly fell in love!  While, this book series seems to be a serious hit or miss with people, I'm one of those who believes it is a hit!

I love that after almost two years I was finally able to get back into Abby and Travis's world, but this time through Travis's eyes!  It was such a fun experience, I found myself devouring this book from beginning until end!  Could NOT put it down!  I read the first 200 pages within a short couple of hours, and then the rest over the next 24 hours!  It was hands down worth the wait!

I can't wait to read more from Jamie McGuire, especially if it's more contemporary novels, similar to Beautiful Disaster and/or Walking Disaster!

Overall rating:
It was great, amazing, and pretty much perfect! I will say, I do wish I had reread Beautiful Disaster before reading Walking Disaster (unfortunately, there hasn't been much time!), just because there were times where scenes are briefly mentioned that were more prominent in BD.  I will definitely say this, READ BEAUTIFUL DISASTER before you read WALKING DISASTER!!!!!  You may get confused, I am warning you!! :)

So where can you get your copies of Beautiful Disaster and/or Walking Disaster??

Beautiful Disaster you can download or order RIGHT NOW, either on Amazon or Barnes and Noble!

And you can preorder your copy of Walking Disaster, which will be available on April 2nd!! :), on Barnes and Noble or Amazon! :)

Do it!!! :)

Stardust Summer by Lauren Clark Blog Tour (Review)

Hello Everyone!

Today I'm part of the Stardust Summer Blog Tour! :)

Stardust Summer is Lauren Clark's latest book! :)

From Goodreads:

Single mom Grace Mason doesn’t believe in miracles, magic, or love at first sight. She likes the quiet life, complete with her eight-year-old son, their tiny house, and her teaching job. For Grace, happiness means that nothing much ever changes in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

Then, one thousand miles away, tragedy strikes. A massive heart attack leaves Grace’s estranged father comatose in an Upstate New York hospital. While a team of doctors fight to keep Henry Mason alive, Grace and Evan rush to his bedside to say their final goodbyes.

Henry’s passing brings little closure for Grace, but she finds herself inexplicably drawn to her new surroundings. What begins as a short trip results in an entire summer spent with Henry’s second wife, Kathleen, and her next-door neighbor, Ryan Gordon, the town doctor. When a series of unlikely events lead to Evan’s disappearance, Grace must face her worst fears to find her son and bring him back home.

Stardust Summer explores the complexities of forgiveness, what it means to be a family, and the fabulous possibility of falling in love—again.

My Thoughts:
I love Lauren Clark's books! Seriously, love them!
Her first two novels, Stay Tuned and Dancing Naked in Dixie, both of which have been reviewed here on The Romance Bookie, were great!  And while, her newest novel, Stardust Summer, was quite a bit different, in that it was a much darker story than her two light contemporaries before, it was just as wonderful!

Lauren created these great interesting characters that have the readers wanting more!  It was enthralling, had an amazing story that felt so real!

Overall rating:
While I normally recommend Lauren's books to Emily Giffin's fans, I would also recommend this one to Nicholas Sparks fans! Lauren created a deep darker story, that will have reader's heart's aching, and wanting more! :)
You can get your copy at Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

Requiem (#3 in the Delirium Trilogy) by Lauren Oliver (ARC Review)

Thanks to Epic Reads I won an ARC of Requiem for watching the Lauren Oliver chat a few weeks ago!

From Goodreads:
Requiem (Delirium, #3)

They have tried to squeeze us out, to stamp us into the past.

But we are still here.

And there are more of us every day.

Now an active member of the resistance, Lena has been transformed. The nascent rebellion that was under way in Pandemonium has ignited into an all-out revolution in Requiem, and Lena is at the center of the fight.

After rescuing Julian from a death sentence, Lena and her friends fled to the Wilds. But the Wilds are no longer a safe haven—pockets of rebellion have opened throughout the country, and the government cannot deny the existence of Invalids. Regulators now infiltrate the borderlands to stamp out the rebels, and as Lena navigates the increasingly dangerous terrain, her best friend, Hana, lives a safe, loveless life in Portland as the fiancĂ©e of the young mayor.

Maybe we are driven crazy by our feelings.

Maybe love is a disease, and we would be better off without it.

But we have chosen a different road.

And in the end, that is the point of escaping the cure: We are free to choose.

We are even free to choose the wrong thing.

Requiem is told from both Lena’s and Hana’s points of view. The two girls live side by side in a world that divides them until, at last, their stories converge.

My Thoughts:

Wow, finally a conclusion to a series!!!  I feel like I never finish any series, and not because I don't want to, it's just that authors either always drag on a series (cough! Sara Shepard! Cough!), or I have so many other books that I have to be read that I just never get the chance to!

Requiem is the third and final book (as of right now, however, Lauren Oliver announced last week that due to production of the TV show getting a go, there is a possibility of more books!)

So anyway, what did I think?

Well, I will say after reading a bunch of reviews on Goodreads of people saying they were disappointed with the ending, that I was worried!

In the end, my final conclusion is that the I actually truly enjoyed the ending, it was the in between parts that were a bit slow for me.  While I will say, Delirium, has been my favorite Dystopian series I've read so far, I am still not a big fan of this genre.  It just is so depressing!

Anyway, in the end my rating is:
I am giving it four bookies because the ending was great!  It was made in a way, I thought that could definitely be thought of as a conclusion, but at the same time could be added on to.  The ending as Lena ending up with the guy I wanted her to!!! :) YAY!!! I love those endings!!! :)

Overall truly enjoyed it, there were times I thought it was a little slow, but then something would happen that would just up the hype again.

Definitely recommend this series to all Dystopian fans, and even those who aren't such huge fans.  I believe I've mentioned this in my Delirium and my Pandemonium reviews, but Lauren Oliver created such a unique world; a world where love isn't allowed!  In fact, it's surgically taken out of you! Creepy right?!

Well, anyway definitely recommend reading this series if you haven't already had the chance to! :)

"The Secret World of Alaina Downs" Blog Tour! (Interview)

Hey Everyone!!

So today I'm part of The Secret World of Alaina Downs by Rebecca Rynecki Blog Tour!! :)

And to help spread the world on this awesome sounding book, I'm excited to present you all with an interview with Rebecca Rynecki!! :)

The Romance Bookie: Tell us a bit about "The Secret World of Alaina Downs".

Rebecca Rynecki: The Secret World of Alaina Downs is a bit of a parody. A serious parody, but none nevertheless. It takes stereotypical aspects of fantasy and romance and uh some bluntness in there for good measure. Alaina is not a take charge heroine who knows exactly what to do when she falls into the world of Isleen, but rather makes a lot of mistakes.

TRB:   How do you come up with the idea for the story? Did you have any inspirations?
RR: This story came about from my love of stories of going into other worlds, except I wanted to add realistic reactions to being in said worlds. My general inspirations were Wonderland and Narnia, but I took influences from The Princess Bride for humor. As I got older and started doing research on fairy tales and folklore, the story grew. The main character's name was from a girl I went to junior high school with. I thought she had the greatest name.

TRB:  If you could live any story you've ever read, what book would it be?
RR: Oh, wow. There's so many great answers for that question. One that I always go back to as far as having everything that I look for in a story is Enchantment by Orson Scott Card. It has the fairy tales, the reality, the princess, the prince in disguise, humor and a great ending.

TRB:  What is the last great book you read and would recommend to readers?
RR: I read a lot, and as a librarian I'm always in the middle of something, but I recently read two great series that I couldn't put down. Wilde's Fire by Krystal Wade and Beckoning Light by Alyssa Rose Ivy. They're both a perfect blend of fantasy, romance and humor which is what I love.

TRB:   When did you first begin writing? And what made you decide this is a career you wanted to be a part of?
RR: I first began writing when I was six or seven, at least you know, those little stories kids tell. I got more into it in junior high and high school when I would write and give chapters off to my friends. My friend Jessica and I even wrote together when we were teens. I decided to get back into it in my late twenties when I realized I really wanted to tell these stories. I love escaping into other authors worlds and I wanted to provide that same feeling for others.

TRB:   Which do you prefer: Hard copies or Ebooks? And Why?
RR: I feel like a book is a book no matter what and certainly ebooks are easier to cart around when I'm on vacation, but if I really, really love something and want to share it with everybody, I buy the hard copy and force it into people's hands :) and there's nothing like coming back to a hard copy of a book that's been so well loved that the corners are all dog eared.

TRB:  Any advice for aspiring writers?
RR: Just do it! Get some people around you who are not afraid to tell you the truth and help better you and your writing. And don't be afraid to listen to what they have to say. Of course, read! Read a lot!

Wow, great answers Rebecca! :) Can't wait to check out The Secret World of Alaina Downs?? Well you can get your copy either at Amazon or Barnes and Noble! :)

Thanks everyone! :)

Music Tuesday #62/63

Hey Everyone! :)

Sorry I missed Music Tuesday last week!

So I'm taking a History of Pop and Rock Music class this semester, and because right now we are listening a lot of 50-60s music, I've been listening like crazy to a ton of artists from that time that my grandmother introduced me to years ago! :)

So here are a couple of great songs! :)

Be My Baby by The Ronettes was also featured in the 80s movie Dirty Dancing! :)

Surfin' USA by The Beach Boys, so okay my grandma did not introduce me to this band, but because I live in California and in one of the places mentioned in this song, I just can't help but love it! :)

Happy Tuesday Everyone! :)

Cruisin' by Sarah Mlynowski (Short Story) Review

From Goodreads:
From the critically acclaimed author of Ten Things We Did (and Probably Shouldn't Have) and the Magic in Manhattan series comes a fun short story about taking the plunge on the high seas, where not everything is what it seems.

Kristin is ready to take the next step. . . . The only problem is she hasn't found the right guy to take it with her. That's why she agreed to go on the ominously named Cruise to Nowhere with her best friend, Liz. There are plenty of cute guys on the ship to choose from if only Kristin can work up the nerve—and stop worrying about the reports in the tabloids that passengers on cruises have been mysteriously disappearing and that someone suspects it has to do with . . . vampires.

My Thoughts:
I read Sarah Mlynowski's Ten Things We Did (And Probably Shouldn't Have) in December of 2011, and thoroughly enjoyed it! So when I saw Sarah came out with a short story via HarperTeen, and it was only 99 cents on Amazon, I sprang at the chance to read it!
