A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (A Good Girl's Guide to Murder #1) by Holly Jackson

Image
Hey Everyone! I've got some catching up to do!  Hopefully, more reviews will be up very soon, as I've got a list of ones I need to read, for some of the books I've read this year.   I know I am late to the game, but a friend and I have decided to start our little book club together, and for our first book we chose A Good Girl's Guide to Murder  by Holly Jackson. This one has been on my radar for a few months now, mainly because of finding my love for YA Murder-Mystery/Thrillers last year.  I understand, it's been hyped about for quite some time now, but I finally got to find out why. From Goodreads: For readers of Kara Thomas and Karen McManus, an addictive, twisty crime thriller with shades of Serial  and Making a Murderer  about a closed local murder case that doesn't add up, and a girl who's determined to find the real killer -- but not everyone wants her meddling in the past. Everyone in Fairview knows the story. Pretty and popular high school sen...

Pumpkin Heads by Rainbow Rowell and Faith Erin Hicks (Illustrator) (Graphic Novel)

Image
Hey Everyone! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas (if you celebrate) with loved ones.  Ours was very nice, one of the nicest we've had in a long time.  Our son is old enough now to get more into it, than he did last year (he was only 3 months old last year), and it was such a joy to see him get excited to open presents, enjoy food, listening to Christmas music, and spending time with family.   I ended up reading a quick read the other night, and thought I'd share my thoughts on it. Pumpkin Heads  by Rainbow Rowell, and illustrated by Faith Erin Hicks. From Goodreads: Deja and Josiah are seasonal best friends. Every autumn, all through high school, they've worked together at the best pumpkin patch in the whole wide world.  (Not many people know that the best pumpkin patch in the whole wide world is in Omaha, Nebraska, but it definitely is.) They say good-bye every Halloween, and they're reunited every September 1. But this Halloween is different --Josi...

American Royals (American Royals #1) by Katharine McGee (Audiobook)

Image
Hey Everyone! I am really excited to write this review.  I didn't think I would I would be able to read another book this year, let alone two, and then also have one of them be a favorite of the year!  I am on a roll this month and trying to keep the momentum going! For my review today I have an audiobook I got to listen to, for American Royals  by Katharine McGee. From Goodreads: What if America had a royal family? When America won the Revolutionary War, its people offered General George Washington a crown. Two and a half centuries later, the House of Washington still sits on the throne. As Princess Beatrice gets closer to becoming America's first queen regnant, the duty she has embraced her entire life suddenly feels stifling. Nobody cares about the spare except when she's breaking the rules, so Princess Samantha doesn't care much about anything, either...except the one boy who is distinctly off-limits to her. And then there Samantha's twin, Prince Jefferson. If ...

Heartstopper Volume 1-3 by Alice Oseman (Graphic Novels)

Image
Hey Everyone! My husband and I recently moved our little family to a new town, and last week we decided to go for a walk together and check out our new (to us) local library.  It was such a great experience, because for one, I haven't set foot in a library in quite some time (both due to Covid, but also because my old local library wasn't really all that great), and two because we have such a great library now.  They have a beautiful children's section, decked out with a giant pirate's ship, columns holding up the building that look like giant books, and a wonderfully stocked Young Adult section.   They had an ample supply of graphic novels, and because of my newly found obsession this year, on graphic novels, I found myself filling the stroller with those initially.  I ended up with four graphic novels, and two regular chapter novels.  To which my husband said, "That's probably enough."  Well, challenge was accepted apparently, because I finished all...

No Judgements (Little Bridge Island #1) by Meg Cabot (ARC Review)

Image
Hey Everyone! I honestly didn't think I would be approved, but holy moly NetGalley approved me!!! I got approved for Meg Cabot's latest adult novel No Judgements !!  She hasn't released a new series in years, especially an adult one, so I have been really looking forward to this one!!!   From Goodreads : The storm of the century is about to hit Little Bridge Island, Florida -- and it's sending waves crashing through Sabrina "Bree" Beckham's love life... When a massive hurricane severs all power and cell service to Little Bridge Island --as well as its connection to the mainland -- twenty-five-year-old Bree Beckham isn't worried...at first.  She's already escaped one storm -- her emotionally abusive ex -- so a hurricane seems like it will be a piece of cake. But animal-loving Bree does become alarmed when she realizes how many islanders have been cut off from their beloved pets.  Now it's up to her to save as many of Littl...

Tuesday Tunes #1: Lover Album by Taylor Swift

Image
Hey Everyone! Here's another weekly post! This one is pretty common I believe, just talking about the music I'm listening to!  I used to do this one years ago, under a different name I believe.  But I'm going to bring it back. Music has only recently come back into my life.  I had a very difficult time listening to it after my dad passed.  The last few years, when I did listen to something it was usually an audiobook during my long school commutes, or the radio in the background. But I am going to try to bring it back, hopefully!!  These posts may not come every week, but hopefully more often, just so more posts can go up on The Romance Bookie, and keep me busy, when  my brain is just absolutely scatterbrained! So for my first Tuesday Tunes, I am currently listening to the Lover Album  by Taylor Swift on repeat in my car.  I recently got Apple Music, and so the album has been following me around.  In the car I have the CD playing th...

Something I'm Good At (Sol del Mar #1) by Caroline Andrus (ARC Review)

Image
Hey Everyone! I'm back again!! Did you miss me? Of course you did! ;)  All three of you reading this... Oh who am I kidding, my mom! "Hi Mom!!" 😄 Just kidding! I hope, to who ever is reading this, that you have had an awesome kick start to your summer!  I know some of you might not have a summer break, because if you're an adult, like me at the almost age of 28, then you probably have work!  Or, if you're an adult, and really like me, you chose to go in the teaching children profession, and therefore you do have a summer break!  Either way, whether you have the summer off or not, I hope you are having a wonderful start to the new season! I just got back from a fun week long road trip with my husband.  We tried to do cross country, but man is it tough being on the road for a week, let alone the three weeks we had originally planned!  We had a great time, and saw some incredible places; but road life is not the life for us!  We got home on S...

Bridal Boot Camp (Little Bridge Island #0.5) by Meg Cabot (Novella Review)

Image
Yay for Lazy Sundays! It's only a 50 page novella, but I managed to start and finish Meg Cabot's newest story, Bridal Boot Camp , which is the novella that has kicked off her new series, Little Bridge Island !  The first official novel in the series will be out in September, and it is called No Judgement .  I am so excited to read something new by Meg!  Especially an adult novel! My husband and my anniversary is coming up this week.  We are celebrating six years together!  It is on Thursday and because I'll be working, we both decided yesterday to start celebrating a little early, and enjoy a full day with each other.  He ended up giving me a brand new Kindle!  My birthday is next month and I had mentioned I would really like a new one, because mine is eight or nine years old at this point, and doesn't really hold a charge anymore.  And since the new ones have the back lit screen to make night time reading better, I was sold! I wasn't expect...

The Rest of the Story by Sarah Dessen (ARC Review)

Image
Hey Everyone! Last night I finished a book that is not only not officially released yet, and second from an author that I absolutely love, but haven't read since 2013!   Sarah Dessen! Sarah Dessen has been one of my absolute favorite authors since my freshman year of high school, which is when I borrowed my first Sarah Dessen book from my high school library, to get those 1,000 pages in that I needed to read for my English class.  It was love at first read!  I devoured anything Sarah Dessen and Meg Cabot during those years, and have collected each of their books since then to put on my own book shelf at home.   Meg Cabot I went to when I wanted a funny young adult read and Sarah was my go-to "I need my real teen read".  Both held and still hold a strong love for reading in my heart. Last night I finished Sarah Dessen's new novel, The Rest of the Story , which is set to release on June 4th, 2019.  I received an ARC from Sarah Dessen hersel...
