2022 & The Romance Bookie's 12th Blogaversary!

Happy Holidays! Wow, it's been a long time! Way too long!   As always life has been all-time consuming.  I have been focusing on The Romance Bookie's Instagram page more, since that is where blogging has led, more so than written blogs now-a-days.  But honestly, I miss my platform here.  I highly doubt people are reading these anymore, but I thought it would be nice to give an update. Did I read in 2022? Yes. Yes, I did.  In fact, I surpassed my reading goals.  I went into 2022 hoping to read at least 50 books, then moved it up to 75 mid-year, and now I'm super close to hitting that 100 mark.  I've got a week left, and I'm hopeful I can do it.  I haven't read 100 books in a year in a long time.  Probably before I met my husband 😅.  Now, here I am almost ten years into my relationship, we have a two-year-old wild child, and I have read almost a 100 books.   2022 was a year of focusing on myself, for the first time in a long ti...

Update for 2021

Hey Everyone! So life as a new mom is...hectic...to say the least. I absolutely freaking love it!  I honestly think I was meant to be a mama.  The amount of joy my little guy gives me far outweighs anything I have felt since meeting my husband (my only other source of joy).   That being said, postpartum is no joke.  My emotions are all over the place.  Giving birth has caused me to have some vitamin deficiencies, which I'm taking supplements for.  But do you know what no one talks about? Vitamin Deficiencies can mess with your mind and body. I mean it makes sense.  But I am so physically and mentally tired, it's not even funny.  And trust me, it is not because of my six month old!   Any-whoo, I have unfortunately not had the brain for reading recently, but I have instead been working on something else... Finally... After years... Being able to FINALLY DISPLAY ALL OF MY BOOKS AGAIN!!  It's a work in progress, but I am so proud of ho...

2020 Update

Hey Everyone! So I don't even know why I bother anymore at this point.  My last post was in October...I know pathetic.  As always, adulthood really has left my life in a tailspin.  I can't believe we are in 2020.  And it's already May?!  WOW.  A lot has happened since October.  And none of what happened, involves me having read a book.  I know...even more pathetic.  Unfortunately, that probably won't change anytime soon.  Before this October I am hoping to read a couple of specific books, before my life is turned even more upside down.  And hopefully among those books I'll be able to find the time to read Midnight Sun , which I'm sure everyone know about at this point, Miranda Kenneally's latest, and Meg Cabot's No Offense, hitting shelves August 11th.  But honestly, I'd be lucky if I finished the book I'm currently reading before October hits... What to Expect in the First Year . Why you may ask? BECAUSE I'M EXPECT...

2018 Update

Hello Everyone, It's been a while.  August...Wow!  My 7 year blog anniversary passed in December, I failed at that.  To be honest, I don't even know what to say at this point.  I've been in a reading rut for quite some time, and trying to find something that peaks my interest, but nothing has.  It's bad.  I know my passion for reading is still there...somewhere.  I mean you don't go from reading over 100 books in a year, to nothing!  I know it will come back. Things have been difficult, if I'm being honest.  The stress level in my life has been at a 100 for so long now, and the sad part work isn't even what is causing it! So to give you a couple of updates about what has happened since my last post... 1. As of August I am working two jobs.  One is as an assistant teacher in a toddler classroom at a preschool.  And for my second job, I got a promotion over the summer and became the supervisor of the after school program I wor...

The Boy is Back (ARC) by Meg Cabot and 2016, the year from HELL!

Hello Everyone, I know I have been absent for a few months now, since the beginning of my school semester.  And while school has been keeping me busy, there have been other things that have happened in my life. So before I go into my last review of 2016, I want to tell you guys something that has changed my life forever. On Wednesday September 14th around 5:30 pm my entire world was turned upside down.  My dad, at the age 46, suffered from a major heart attack.  It happened at home, while my brother and him were working on a project together.  The ambulance came, and the paramedic were able to resuscitate him; but unfortunately the damage had been done. On Thursday September 22nd, 2016 at 6:25 pm my dad died from brain damage, caused by the lack of oxygen during the heart attack.  My dad is my hero, and will always be.  He was the most hard working person I have ever met, and he has always inspired me to go after my dreams. To say things have been...

Life, Book Blogging, and the Bad Rep it has Gotten (Random Post #15)

I realized something about myself the other day...I read when I'm sad, and going through a hard time. It's my out, when I want to get my mind off things, and just escape. Now don't get me wrong, I DO LOVE TO READ!  Reading has helped me from hitting that low in life where you just want to give up completely.  It's always been there to cheer me up, at least somewhat, when things have gotten really tough! But I noticed that I have always read when things were hard when I realized I had read two books in one week when I found out two loved ones in my life had passed away. I haven't been able to read for months...heck almost a couple of years at this point!  I've been in a very happy place in my life, for the first time in...Ever.  I've always had an amazing family that was there for me, but something was always missing.  I felt really lonely for a long time, because I have always had trouble making friends who truly accept me for who I am.  But then I ...

Update from The Romance Bookie! :)

Hey Everyone! I know I know it's been a while.  The hiatus I put the Romance Bookie on has done me a lot of good; that being said though I have definitely missed reading!! We are less than a few weeks away from The Romance Bookie's FIVE YEAR Blogaversary!!!  I can't believe it's been 5 years! Wow, what a ride it's been!  Not only was my world turned upside down by books and meeting such incredible authors and people in the book world, but also my overall life has changed so much! Next month, I will be letting go of one of my jobs, because life is crazy with two jobs, five classes, and spending time with my loved ones.  I will have some much needed time off, during the winter break.  First time in three years, where I will have weekends off! Oh goodness, am I excited about that!! In those five years, I met the most amazing man ever!  We have been together now two and a half years (December 6th), and moved in together this past summer.  To say th...

Random Post: Update on Life :)

Hey Everyone!!! I know, I know!! I have seriously sucked!  No review for about a month...it's pathetic...I know.  But I have had a very good reason...I've been working, going to school, studying for my classes, and also studying for my real estate exam...which I took today, and guess what??!!! I PASSED!!! I am officially a licensed Real Estate Salesperson in California!! I'm joining the ranks of so many people ahead of me, and taking the real estate market by storm ;). Anyway, I am going to try my best to get to reading a good book again.  I've been in a bit of a funk, and so it's been difficult, but all it takes is that great next book!! :) Hope to write again very soon!! Love you all!! The Romance Bookie :)

Update!

HEY everyone! Happy Sunday!! So this is actually a quick update! I'm sorry there haven't been any reviews up this week.  I'm currently rereading a certain series, where the final movie in the series (;() will be released next month, and I want to do a cumulative review where I discuss all the books.  Anyway, a quick update... I've been a bit slow in my reading the last couple of weeks, but believe me I've got a good excuse!! First off, my family are I are getting ready to move into our new house in the next couple of months.  It's not a far move, in fact it's only into our backyard into the new house lol, but none the less a move.  I have started reorganizing, getting rid of a bunch of stuff, thrown a LOT of papers away, and...if you know what moving is like, then you know where I'm coming from. Anyway, yup moving.  It's going to be super awesome, because we've been waiting about 5 years to move into our new house, so I'm definit...
