Update!

Image
HEY everyone! Happy Sunday!! So this is actually a quick update! I'm sorry there haven't been any reviews up this week.  I'm currently rereading a certain series, where the final movie in the series (;() will be released next month, and I want to do a cumulative review where I discuss all the books.  Anyway, a quick update... I've been a bit slow in my reading the last couple of weeks, but believe me I've got a good excuse!! First off, my family are I are getting ready to move into our new house in the next couple of months.  It's not a far move, in fact it's only into our backyard into the new house lol, but none the less a move.  I have started reorganizing, getting rid of a bunch of stuff, thrown a LOT of papers away, and...if you know what moving is like, then you know where I'm coming from. Anyway, yup moving.  It's going to be super awesome, because we've been waiting about 5 years to move into our new house, so I'm definit

The Reluctant Bachelorette Blog Tour (Oct. 24th, 2012)

Image
Hey Everyone! I am so excited, because today I am a stop on the official The Reluctant Bachelorette blog tour! About: Unknowingly cast as the bachelorette for her town’s charity event, Taycee Emerson wants out. Especially when she discovers her old teenage crush, Luke Carney, is one of the bachelors and it's up to the viewers--not her--to decide which bachelors stay or go. Coerced into participating, Taycee does what any self-preserving girl would do. She launches a subtle attack on Luke’s good name with the hope of getting him voted off the show. Unfortunately, Luke's an eye-for-an-eye kind of guy, and when he discovers what she's up to, it means revenge. But when their pranks go south, will they screw up any chance they have at a future together, or will they be able to forgive and forget and prove that love really does conquer all? My thoughts: Overall, I thought this was a super cute contemporary read!  I loved the story, the characters,

I grew up on this song! Seriously! Anyway enjoy! :) The Romance Bookie :)

Interview with Lynn C. Ricci (The Dating Intervention)

Happy Weekend everyone!! Today I've got something exciting to share, an interview with Lynn C. Ricci!! The Romance Bookie:  In 3-4 sentences, would you please tell us a bit about your novel "The Dating Intervention"?   Lynn C. Ricci: Vanessa had it all: handsome husband, two beautiful children, a lovely home, and a successful career. She was living the dream life she and her friends fantasized about as girls over hot fudge sundaes...until her husband miss-dials a call and throws her plans for the perfect life off track. Her well-meaning friends decide a dating intervention is in order, soon discovering the dating pool they once knew has become a puddle.  It's a novel about enduring friendships, and second chances at love and life. TRB: How did you come up with the concept? LCR: Well, I've had my share of bad blind dates and many other women I know have too!  I thought there was a story there with the challenges women have to balance all their responsibilit

My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century by Rachel Harris

Image
Through the Flirt Squad I moved My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century by Rachel Harris onto the top of my to-read list, and let me just say, I'm glad I did! :) Goodreads Description: On the precipice of her sixteenth birthday, the last thing lone wolf Cat Crawford wants is an extravagant gala thrown by her bubbly stepmother-to-be and well-meaning father. So even though Cat knows the family’s trip to Florence, Italy, is a peace offering, she embraces the magical city and all it offers. But when her curiosity leads her to an unusual gypsy tent, she exits . . . right into Renaissance Firenze . Thrust into the sixteenth century armed with only a backpack full of contraband future items, Cat joins up with her ancestors, the sweet Alessandra and protective Cipriano, and soon falls for the gorgeous aspiring artist Lorenzo. But when the much-older Niccolo starts sniffing around, Cat realizes that an unwanted birthday party is nothing compared to an unwanted suitor ful

Still on My Mind #19

Image
Still on My Mind is a weekly meme, featured on Thursday, started by Haley over at Ya-Aholic , where you discuss a book you've either recently read, or read over the past few years, that's still on your mind. For this week's Still on My Mind, I've decided to pick a book in honor of October's Bully Prevention Month.   I read Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, last year ( Review HERE ), and since then I just have not been able to get it out of my head. It was one of the most beautiful, devastating novels I have ever read. Goodreads Description:   Clay Jensen returns home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers thirteen cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker, his classmate and crush who committed suicide two weeks earlier. On tape, Hannah explains that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Clay is one of them. If he listens, he'll find out how he made the list. Thro

I am an Official Member of the Flirt Squad!   Before I give you more information on exactly what the Flirt Squad is, I'd like to tie in my weekly Music Tuesday with today's post! Every girl wants a Sweet Sixteen, right? Okay, not EVERY single girl, for instance Cat, in the book doesn't, but admit it...it would still be kind of cool! For the next two weeks I'll be doing two songs that relate to the subject of Sweet Sixteen! For this week's song, I've chosen one of my favorites, Sixteen Candles from The Crests! :) Now to The Flirt Squad! Well, Rachel Harris has just released her new novel My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century and she's hosting this super fun game where you can earn awesome prizes by achieving different levels!  Just go to the website HERE ! for more information! And to add to the fun and for you to get an idea on what My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century is about, here is the book trailer: Review coming soon! :) The Romance

City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare Review

Image
***WARNING!! May contain Spoilers from previous books in series!!!*** So I finally read it!!! City of Lost Souls, that is! :) I've been trying to hold this off, because I just couldn't stand having to wait months for Clockwork Princess , which I know is in the Infernal Devices series, but none the less, I know I will have Cassie Clare withdrawals for the next few months!!! While Meg Cabot is my contemporary drug, Cassie is my paranormal addiction! However, to continue my Mortal Instrument addiction I now have to wait until March of 2014!!!!! Yes that is a FOUR not a three!! I am going to die!!!! At least in between that time we have Clockwork Princess and the City of Bones movie!!!!! Anyway time for my review: Description from Goodreads : What price is too high to pay, even for love? When Jace and Clary meet again, Clary is horrified to discover that the demon Lilith’s magic has bound her beloved Jace together with her evil brother Sebastian, and that

Meredith Schorr (A State of Jane) Guest Post

Image
Hey Everyone!! It's Friday!!!! Today I've got a special Guest Post by Meredith Schorr, the author of A State of Jane !! :) In both of my novels, my main character is a single woman whose mother is very much involved in my heroine’s quest to be not-so-single.  This involvement is not sought out by or welcomed by my main character, but despite all efforts to keep things on a need-to-know basis, both mothers inevitably know everything.  In my first book, Just Friends with Benefits, thirty-two-year-old Stephanie Cohen, despite being attractive, intelligent and a lot of fun, can’t seem to keep a relationship together for more than 3.5 months.  Her mother, Susan, wants nothing more than for Stephanie to settle down and give her another grandchild.  (Stephanie’s older brother already provided her with one.) No matter what other topic of conversation arises, the NFL standings, another family member’s birthday, a promotion, Susan always manages to ask her favorite question, “Been

Still on My Mind #18

Image
Still on My Mind is a weekly meme, featured on Thursday, started by Haley over at Ya-Aholic , where you discuss a book you've either recently read, or read over the past few years, that's still on your mind. I am posting my Still on my Mind a little early this week, because I'm super busy on Thursday's, especially in the morning. So for this week's Still on my Mind I have decided to do a book I read quite a few years ago.  It was way before The Romance Bookie was even a though. Back in 2007 I read a book called Jemima J .  It is by Jane Green, whose written quite a few others, and even though I've read a couple of her other works, none of them felt like Jemima J . Description from Goodreads : Jemima Jones is overweight. About one hundred pounds overweight. Treated like a maid by her thin and social-climbing roommates, and lorded over by the beautiful Geraldine (less talented but better paid) at the Kilburn Herald , Jemima finds that her onl

Music Tuesday #41

Good Morning Everyone! Or I guess I should say Happy Tuesday, since not everyone's day is in the morning phases anymore! :) Anyway today's song came out last week, and it's one of my favorite singers...no not Taylor Swift, this time (however, she did come out with a new song today!!), but instead another one of my favorites!! ADELE!! Adele released her new song, which also happens to be the theme song for the new James Bond movie coming out next month! So here it is: Enjoy! Sounds pretty good right?! I think it sounds very James Bondy...! :) The Romance Bookie :)

Random Post #1 (Glee Character analysis)

Image
Happy Friday everyone!! So I realize not everyone watches Glee .  However, I'm one of those viewers that still watches it, however at times am not really sure why anymore, and then other times I just want to never end. I will say this post is for all those people that have seen at least one of the episodes from this season!! AND WARNING!!! This contains spoilers from last night's Break-up episode!! Today I am writing my first...okay, not first, but I'm just going to count it as my first official, random post. It's a character analysis of quite a few of the Glee characters.  Some more in depth, and some not. So here goes: Let's start with the famous... Rachel (Portrayed by Lea Michele):  First off, I just want to say her dialogue has gotten SO much better!! I love how New York has finally given her the reality check she needed.  Now she can see that life doesn't always go your way, or that she's the only talented one in the world. Finn (portr

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky review

Image
I've had The Perks of Being a Wallflower sitting on my bookshelf since late last year (when I received it for FREE!! ), and since then I've told myself to pick it up and read it many times, but I just haven't had the chance...plus I knew it would be a tough to get through because of the tough topics it discusses. Anyway, I finally did it!! So as some of you may know the movie was just released based on this novel, and from what I've heard it's a good one!  Stephen Chbosky, who also wrote the book, made the movie, so I think it's pretty much a guarantee that it will be true to his novel!  At least we can only hope!! Anyway, now to the review... Description from Goodreads : Standing on the fringes of life... offers a unique perspective. But there comes a time to see what it looks like from the dance floor. This haunting novel about the dilemma of passivity vs. passion marks the stunning debut of a provocative new voice in contemporary fiction: The

Populazzi by Elise Allen

High school... Mixed emotions most likely right?? If you haven't gone through it yet, than you most likely have no idea what I'm talking about...but if you have...you should know. Personally, I hated it.  I thought it was a terrible time in my life.  Friends turned on friends, rumors were spread, people judged me when they didn't know me, because of what one person told them about me.  It just wasn't my thing. The one thing I will say I got out of the whole social experience of high school is that I became a very independent person out of it.  I learned to fend for myself, I learned to enjoy being by myself, and learned about the loveliness that are books. (For more on my High school experience, you can visit MY post HERE !) Populazzi by Elise Allen takes the hierarchy of high school to the extreme...sometimes, I'm being honest here, I thought a little too much to the extreme. Description from Goodreads : Cara has never been one of those girls:
