People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry (Audiobook)

Image
Hey! I'm so excited for this review!  I have been meaning to read this next book since it came out last year!  It took forever for my turn to come up at the library for this audiobook, after over a dozen weeks of waiting, I finally got it! So here is my review of The People We Meet On Vacation  by Emily Henry! From Goodreads: Two best friends. Ten summer trips. One last chance to fall in love. Poppy and Alex. Alex and Poppy. They have nothing in common. She's a wild child; he wears khakis. She has insatiable wanderlust; he prefers to stay home with a book. And somehow, ever since a fateful car share home from college many years ago, they are the very best of friends. For most of the year they live far apart--she's in New York City, and he's in their small hometown--but every summer, for a decade, they have taken one glorious week of vacation together. Until two years ago, when they ruined everything. They haven't spoken since.  Poppy has everythi...

Last Chance Books by Kelsey Rodkey (Audiobook)

Image
Hey Everyone! It's been a minute, and for once it isn't because I haven't been reading!  In fact, I have A LOT of catching up to do!  Like a lot! I have been reading a lot! In fact, every time I finish a book, I just roll right into the next one, instead of updating The Romance Bookie, working on the Bookstagram, or even updating my Always Fully Booked Planner.   So here goes the updating! This review is for Last Chance Books  by Kelsey Rodkey. From Goodreads: Don't you just love the smell of old books in the morning? Madeline Moore does. Books & Moore, the musty bookstore her family has owned for generations, is where she feels most herself. Nothing is going to stop her from coming back after college to take over the store from her beloved aunt. Nothing, that is--until a chain bookstore called Prologue opens across the street and threatens to shut them down.  Madeline sets out to demolish the competition, but Jasper, the guy who works over at Prologue...

Gilded (Gilded #1) by Marissa Meyer (Audiobook)

Image
I finished my first book of 2022!!   And I did it on January 1st!! Now I did start it last week, when it was technically still 2021, but I still needed to read quite a bit when 2022 started, and after listening over 4 hours yesterday, I finally finished! Gilded , the first book in Marissa Meyer's new series! From Goodreads: Long ago cursed by the god of lies, a poor miller's daughter has developed a talent for spinning stories that are fantasical and spellbinding and entirely untrue. Or so everyone believes. When one of Serilda's outlandish tales draws the attention of the sinister Erlking and his undead hunters, she finds herself swept away into a grim world where ghouls and phantoms prowl the earth and hollow-eyed ravens track every move. The king orders Serilda to complete the impossible task of spinning straw into gold, or be killed for telling falsehoods.  In her desperation, Serilda unwittingly summons a mysterious boy to her aid. He agrees to help her...for a ...

If the Shoe Fits (Meant to Be #1) by Julie Murphy (Audiobook)

Image
Merry Christmas Eve! I can't believe Christmas is here once again! I'm so looking forward to bringing my son downstairs tomorrow morning, and having him see our Christmas Tree all lit up with lots of goodies for him underneath, and then listening to Christmas music, and watching one of my favorite Christmas movies, Christmas Vacation!  I love this time of year, getting to cozy up with my husband on the couch, under lots of blankets, fuzzy socks on, warm PJs, and watching a movie while sip on our hot drinks.  ðŸ’– In the meantime, I do have a review for you! I just finished listening to the audiobook of If the Shoe Fits  by Julie Murphy! From Goodreads: After having just graduated with a degree in shoe design, and trying to get her feet on the ground, Cindy is working for her stepmother, who happens to be the executive producer of America's favorite reality show, Before Midnight .  When a spot on the show needs filling ASAP, Cindy volunteers, hoping it might ...

Tokyo Ever After by Emiko Jean

Image
Hello Everyone! It's been a minute! I have not been able to read much lately, but finally finished a book!  July was not a good reading month for me, hopefully this month will be a bit better!   I ended up finally finishing Tokyo Ever After  by Emiko Jean yesterday! From Goodreads: Izumi Tanaka has never really felt like she fit in -- it isn't easy being Japanese American in her small, mostly white, Northern California town.  Raised by a single mother, it's always been Izumi --or Izzy, because "It's easier this way" -- and her mom against the world.  But then Izzy discovers a clue to her previously unknown father's identity... and he's none other than the Crown Prince of Japan. Which means outspoken, irreverent Izzy is literally a princess. In a whirlwind, Izzy travels to Japan to meet the father she never knew and discover the county she always dreamed of.  But being a princess isn't all ball gowns and tiaras. There are conniving cousins, a hung...

The Girl Least Likely by Katy Loutzenhiser

Image
Hey! I finally finished an actual novel this month!  It's been a rather odd month.  I'm feeling off at the moment, can't really explain it, but my head has been in the clouds so to say.   But anyway, finished an actual book in July, instead of another graphic novel. The Girl Least Likely by Katy Loutzenhiser was released on June 29th, so a new release! From Goodreads: To All the Boys meets The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (with a dash of Dumplin' ) in this funny, romantic, and heartfelt coming of age story about a teen stand-up comic learning how to be her truest self, from the author of If You're Out There . Gretchen has always been more of a "least likely" than a "most likely" kind of girl. So how does she somehow find herself living out every trope from her favorite rom-coms...? The Best Friend Crush: Why is it suddenly so hard to act normal around her childhood BFF, Samuel? Must be time for a -- Makeover(!): Black leather pants and some red lipstic...

The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren

Image
Hello! It was close, but I completed my reading goal for June!  I read all the books, but one, from my TBR pile, and the one that I didn't, is because it became a Did-Not-Finish for now.   I'm really proud of myself, because I haven't completed a reading goal in years!  For my review today, I'll be talking about The Soulmate Equation  by Christina Lauren! It is their latest release! :) From Goodreads: Single mom Jess Davis is a data and statistics wizard, but no amount of number crunching can convince her to step back into the dating world.  Raised by her grandparents -- who now help raise her seven-year-old daughter, Juno -- Jess has been left behind too often to feel comfortable letting anyone in.  After all, her father's never been around, her hard-partying mother disappeared when she was six, and her ex decided he wasn't "father material" before Juno was even born. Jess holds her loved ones close, but working constantly to stay afloat is hard...

Instructions for Dancing by Nicola Yoon

Image
Hello! I hope everyone had a nice weekend! I can't believe it is Monday again and that we are approaching the midway point for 2021 already!  It is seriously blowing my mind how fast time is passing by!   Last night I finished Nicola Yoon latest release Instructions for Dancing ! From Goodreads: Evie Thomas doesn't believe in love anymore.  Especially after the strangest thing occurs one otherwise ordinary afternoon: She witnesses a couple kiss and is overcome with a vision of how their romance began...and how it will end.  After all, even the greatest love stories end with a broken heart, eventually. As Evie tries to understand why this is happening, she finds herself at La Brea Dance Studio, learning to waltz, fox-trot, and tango with a boy named X.  X is everything that Evie is not: adventurous, passionate, daring. His philosophy is to say yes to everything -- including entering a ballroom dance competition with a girl...

An Emotion of Great Delight by Tahereh Mafi

Image
Hey Everyone! I finished Tahereh Mafi's new book An Emotion of Great Delight .  I could not put this one down.  I mean, I had to, because you know, baby, appointments, chores, errands, etc.  But I was reading any chance I got.  Even during my waits at the chiropractor I was reading.  I finished this one in a day, which is pretty impressive for me at this point. From Goodreads: From bestselling and National Book Award-nominated author Tahereh Mafi comes a stunning novel about love and loneliness, navigating the hyphen of dual identity, and reclaiming your right to joy -- even when you're trapped in the amber of sorrow. It's 2003, several months since the US officially declared war on Iraq, and the American political world has evolved. Tensions are high, hate crimes are on the ride, FBI agents are infiltrating local mosques, and the Muslim community is harassed and targeted more than ever. Shadi, who wears hijab, keeps her head down....

Poison Ivy: Thorns by Kody Keplinger and Illustrated by Sara Kipin

Image
Hey Everyone! I waited all day today for my mail.  Why? Because three awesome books were released today! And two of them were expected to come in today! (One I'm waiting on, because I ordered a signed copy, and those always take longer to arrive).   I ended up devouring my first one already...and okay it was a graphic novel, but I was so excited for it, and just couldn't help myself. Poison Ivy: Thorns  Written by the fabulous Kody Keplinger and illustrated by the very talented Sara Kipin! From Goodreads: New York Times bestselling author of The DUFF  Kody Keplinger and artist Sara Kipin reimagine an iconic DC antihero with a gothic-horror twist. There's something unusual about Pamela Isley-- the girl who hides behind her bright red hair.  The girl who won't let anyone inside to see what's lurking behind the curtains.  The girl who goes to extreme lengths to care for a few plants. Pamela Isley doesn't trust other people, especially men. ...

What's Not to Love by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka

Image
Hello Everyone! I finally finished a book that I truly truly enjoyed! I'm so excited! This is a new one, that was just released last month!  It's called What's Not to Love  and it's by the authors Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka!  Who are a real life couple and this book, I believe, is semi-based on their life! :) From Goodreads: An academic enemies-to-lovers YA with all the nerdy drama, high school antics, and heart pounding romance of the Netflix original series Never Have I Ever. Since high school began, Alison Sanger and Ethan Molloy have competed on almost everything. AP classes, the school paper, community service, it never ends. If Alison could avoid Ethan until graduation, she would. Except, naturally, for two over-achieving senior with their sights on valedictorian and Harvard, they share all the same classes and extracurriculars.  So when their school's principal assigns them the task of co-planning a previous ...

Hello, Cruel Heart by Maureen Johnson

Image
Hello Everyone! To all the Mother's out there, Happy Mother's Day! Today, is my first ever Mother's Day, and my husband made me a quiche for breakfast, gave me the beautiful bouquet of mixed roses, and surprised me with my first ever iWatch 😱 (that one was an absolute shock to me! Usually, I have an idea of what he is going to get me, but had no clue today!). Being a Mom, has been the magical time of my life.  I absolutely love being a mom, I love watching my little man grow each and every day.  I love holding him, cuddling with him, seeing him smile when he sees our faces.  He and my husband are my world, and I have no clue what I would do with either of them 💖. It's been a very nice and relaxing weekend so far, and yesterday I ended up getting quite a bit of reading time in (our little guy has been sleeping a lot, we think he is having a growth spurt), and I finished another book! This time it is Maureen Johnson's new novel Hello, Cruel Heart , which tells the ...
