Under One Roof (The STEMinist Novella #1) by Ali Hazelwood (Audiobook)

Image
Hey Everyone! Time for another review!  This one I listened to the other day, because I needed a break from my current main audiobook.  I'm currently listening to Spare  by Prince Harry, the memoir he released a couple of weeks ago, and while I am finding it good, I was in the mood for a rom-com, during my afternoon off the other day.  So Ali Hazelwood's novella Under The Roof , seemed like the perfect little read to fill my time! From Goodreads: A scientist should never cohabitate with her annoyingly hot nemesis -- it leads to combustion. Mara, Sadie, and Hannah are friends first, scientists always.  Though their fields of study might take them to different corners of the world, they can all agree on this universal truth: when it comes to love and science, opposites attract and rivals make you burn... As an environmental engineer, Mara knows all about the delicate nature of ecosystems. They require balance. And leaving the thermostat alone....

Bridal Boot Camp (Little Bridge Island #0.5) by Meg Cabot (Novella Review)

Image
Yay for Lazy Sundays! It's only a 50 page novella, but I managed to start and finish Meg Cabot's newest story, Bridal Boot Camp , which is the novella that has kicked off her new series, Little Bridge Island !  The first official novel in the series will be out in September, and it is called No Judgement .  I am so excited to read something new by Meg!  Especially an adult novel! My husband and my anniversary is coming up this week.  We are celebrating six years together!  It is on Thursday and because I'll be working, we both decided yesterday to start celebrating a little early, and enjoy a full day with each other.  He ended up giving me a brand new Kindle!  My birthday is next month and I had mentioned I would really like a new one, because mine is eight or nine years old at this point, and doesn't really hold a charge anymore.  And since the new ones have the back lit screen to make night time reading better, I was sold! I wasn't expect...

Royal Day Out (From the Notebooks of a Middle School Princess #1.5) (Novella Review)

Image
Second book done during my summer break, and it's only week 2!!! Okay, okay, so it was a short novella, but it was a Meg Cabot novella, so of course it had to be read of course!! I finished it no time! From Goodreads: Olivia Grace Clarisse Mignonette Harrison never thought that being a real life PRINCESS OF GENOVIA could ever be boring, but with all of the news vans and paparazzi staked out in front of the palace, the whole family has been on lockdown for weeks.  So when Grandmere suggests a shopping trip to buy a small present for Princess Mia, Olivia jumps at the chance -- especially since the shopping trips comes with the promise of lunch at the Royal Genovian Yacht Club (makers of the best ice cream sundae in the world)! Surely nothing could go wrong with such a simple day out, could it? A quick shopping trip with her royal Grandmere turns into a much bigger deal than Olivia Grace, the newest Princess of Genovia expected in this e-short edition to Meg Cabot's i...

The Proposal (#6.5 in the Mediator Series) by Meg Cabot (Novella)

Image
I have had this week off for President's Week from my work, so I thought it would be a good time to at least get a little reading done, when I'm not having to do homework or go to the Dentist!  So after finally being able to download it onto my Kindle (no internet!), I have been able to read Meg Cabot's novella that is the predecessor to Meg's latest edition to the Mediator Series , Remembrance.   This one is called  The Proposal  and it is a short, fun story giving us readers (adult readers!) the proposal that we didn't get to hear the story about in Remembrance ! When I met Meg last week, she mentioned to us listeners that what is great about this two new editions to the Mediator  series, is that they can stand along from the original young adult series, that accompanies these two new books.  However, I do recommend you read the original series, either before or after, preferably before, because let's not spoil the story! Now to the review of The Prop...

Beautiful Beloved (Beautiful Bastard #3.6) by Christina Lauren (ARC)

Image
***WARNING*** ADULT CONTENT INVOLVING INAPPROPRIATE SUBJECTS FOR ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18!!!!*** Yay!! Got another book in before I leave tomorrow for my vacation!!! I received Beautiful Beloved in the mail yesterday and knew I just had to devour it instantly, and so that was exactly what I did this morning when I woke at 5:40 am wide awake, too hyped up and ready to go. The Beautiful Bastard  series is hands down my favorite adult series! It's got everything I like to find in a book.  Great characters.  Great stories.  Hysterical humor.  Just so much awesomeness! Christina and Lauren (yes, it is two authors who write this book!) wrote yet another genius novella in this series!  We get to go back into the lives of Sara and Max, the two main characters from Beautiful Stranger ! I read  Beautiful Stranger  (the second in the series) back in mid 2013, which was when readers were first introduced to Sara and Max.  I was so excited ...

Valentine Princess (#7.75 in The Princess Diaries Series) by Meg Cabot

Image
Hey Everyone!!! Thanks to Alex over at  A Girl, Books and Other Things  I won a copy of Meg Cabot's Valentine Princess, the one and only book in The Princess Diaries Series  that I had not owned yet...and I hadn't even known that!!!!! Well, any thank you Alex!!!! I loved it!! :) From Goodreads : Valentine's Day means flowers, chocolates, and all-out romance. That is, it usually means those things. But when you're Princess Mia, nothing happens the way it's supposed to. For one thing, Grandmère seems determined to prove   that boy   (or Michael, as he is commonly known) isn't the right one for the crown princess of Genovia. And Mia isn't having much luck proving otherwise, since Michael has a history of being decidedly against any kind of exploitative commercialization (Valentine's Day, as it is commonly known). Boris can declare his love openly to Lilly, and even Kenny comes through with a paltry Whitman's Sampler. So why can't Michael...

Hey Everyone! :) Happy Meg-A Readers Day!! From Goodreads : Mia would give all the jewels in Genovia for the perfect present Every year, Princess Mia spends the holidays in Genovia with Grandmère. This year, she's looking forward to the most perfect Christmas ever: her boyfriend, Michael, and her best friend, Lilly, are coming to Genovia, too. But even a princess's plans can go awry. Lilly has a lot to learn about palace protocol, and with all the state holiday functions Mia must attend, there's no time to linger under the mistletoe with Michael. Worst of all, Mia hasn't been able to find him the perfect gift. Can Mia stop her (bah-hum)bugging long enough to see that the perfect present has nothing to do with international express courier -- and everything to do with real love? (Though some shiny silver ribbon never hurts ...) My Thoughts: I love that Meg made these little novella's inbetween!  They are so adorable, and fun to read, especially ...

Meg-A Readers Week! Day 3: Project Princess (#4.5 in the Princess Diaries) by Meg Cabot (GIVEAWAY!)

Image
Day 3 of Meg-A Readers Week! From Goodreads : Princess Mia and her friends volunteer to build a house for the less fortunate during their Spring Break. My Thoughts: This is such a fun short read that can be read in under an hour.  I think it took me like 20 minutes to get through! It's only about 50 pages long.  Of course it's very cute...it's Meg Cabot after all! Mia is her normal teenager self in this one.  Only interested in one thing...Michael.  Or to be more specific...making out with Michael. Does she get her wish? Or is this Spring Break a bust?  Find out in Project Princess  #4.5 in The Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot! Overall rating: If you're a fan of The Princess Diaries, then check this one out definitely! I personally think you'll have to have read the previous novels in The Princess Diaries Series in order to understand the back ground for this one, only because otherwise this book might seem a little boring, be...

His Secrets (Inside Out #3.1) by Lisa Renee Jones

Image
***WARNING*** ***This book contains content not suitable for anyone under the age of 18!!! You've been warned!!*** Hey Everyone! I've finally caught up on the Inside Out Series by Lisa Renee Jones! Now I can officially read the newest one, No Inbetween ! Anyway, I finished His Secrets , which is recommended to be read before reading No Inbetween , because it somehow connects to the story. From Goodreads : An Inside Out story, Chris's POV In a world where my only escape has been my art, Sara has been the light in my darkness. And there is darkness, the kind of inky black that can bleed from my life to hers. She doesn't see it. She doesn't understand what I've shown her. And my biggest fear is that soon...she will. My Thoughts: It was a little odd, reading in the point of view of Chris, because I'm so used to reading from Sara's view.  I got a little confused sometimes, because something kind of masculine would be mentioned and I'd...

From Goodreads : An Inside Out Novella in Mark's POV While Chris and Sara have traveled to Paris to avoid the chaos of press and police after the tragic night we’d shared, I have stayed to face the reality of what has happened. But there is no peace to be found in facing the truth, and no truth to be found in the confessions that have been made and retracted. I am a Master, all about control, and yet right now, facing great tragedy, I feel as if I have none. With my club and my relationships of the past in the spotlight, I find sanctuary in the one place I’ve promise...

The Queen's Army (Lunar Chronicles #1.5) by Marissa Meyer (Novella Review)

Image
Good Day Everyone! The other day I finished my book at work, and because I didn't have my other book on me, that I already was reading, I decided to pick up the short but sweet The Queen's Army  by Marissa Meyer, which is #1.5 in the Lunar Chronicles Series! I've had this one sitting on my Kindle for quite some time, so this was the perfect excuse to finally read it! (Not that I need an excuse to read, it's just finding the time to read all these awesome books!) Anyway... From Goodreads : It is time. The boy must leave his family to serve in the Queen's army. To be chosen is an honor. To decline is impossible. The boy is modified. He is trained for several years, and learns to fight to the death. He proves to the Queen—and to himself—that he is capable of evil. He is just the kind of soldier the Queen wants: the alpha of his pack. My Thoughts: Like I said above, this one was short and sweet!  Z was a great character! You saw his vulnerability when he...

Just One Night (Just One Day #2.5) by Gayle Forman (Novella Review)

Image
Happy Sunday Everyone! So very recently, in fact I believe earlier this week, I came across a post from Gayle Forman, one of my favorite authors, where I shared a link to her new novella, Just One Night , which happened to be the continuation of Willem and Allyson's journey from her two previous books, Just One Day  and Just One Year ! I, of course, had to get it immediately, because the ending for Just One Year , has always left so many unanswered questions! From Goodreads: After spending one life-changing day in Paris with laid-back Dutch actor Willem De Ruiter, sheltered American good girl Allyson “Lulu” Healey discovered her new lover had disappeared without a trace. Just One Day followed Allyson’s quest to reunite with Willem; Just One Year chronicled the pair’s year apart from Willem’s perspective. Now, back together at last, this delectable e-novella reveals the couple’s final chapter. My Thoughts: This novella actually came out this week on May 29...

Image
Happy Mother's Day to all the fabulous Mother's out there in the world!! I know my brother and I are trying everything today to spoil our mom! :) I've been a fan of Jamie McGuire's since I read Beautiful Disaster in October of 2011, when it was actually still a self-published novel!  I just absolutely devoured that book!! So when I found out Jamie McGuire was publishing a new novella series, in the contemporary world, I knew I had to read it! Happenstance  by Jamie McGuire is the first of three in this new novella series, which hit online stores Friday (May 9th, 2014)! Hey Everyone! Just another Manic Monday has begun, right? Well, anyway, I finished the second novella in The Bane Chronicles, The Runaway Queen  by Cassandra Clare, and co-authored by Maureen Johnson. I am a huge Cassandra Clare fan, and have enjoyed a couple of Maureen Johnson's books, but I was excited when I learned they co-authored a novella for this series, and had to of course get it for my Kindle right away. From Goodreads : Magnus Bane has a royal role in the French Revolution—if the angry mobs don’t spoil his spells. One of ten adventures in The Bane Chronicles. Image
Hey Everyone! As some of you may know, I'm a huge fan of Cassandra Clare's books!  So last year when I got to meet Cassie, along with Maureen Johnson and Sarah Rees Brennan, I was stoked on life to find out she had co-authored with both Maureen and Sarah and written a novella series, in the world of both The Mortal Instrument  and Infernal Devices  series! Well, a year later, I've FINALLY come around to reading the first book in The Bane Chronicles , entitled, What Really Happened in Peru ! What Really Happened in Peru  was written by both Cassandra Clare and Sarah Rees Brennan! From Goodreads : Fans of The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices know that Magnus Bane is banned from Peru—and now they can find out why. One of ten adventures in The Bane Chronicles. There are good reasons Peru is off-limits to Magnus Bane. Follow Magnus’s Peruvian escapades as he drags his fellow warlocks Ragnor Fell and Catarina Loss into trouble, learns several instr...
