My Highlights of 2021

Image
Hey Everyone! A new year is once again upon us!  I don't know about you, but I feel like 2021 just zoomed by!  Maybe it's because my 15 month old has just grown like a weed, and I just want to 😭 every time I go through photos on my phone and see the changes happening everyday.   2022 is upon us!  Well, almost.  Which means a new year of possibilities, goals, family moments, and so many positive things hopefully.   I honestly can't complain about 2021, not when my family and I have experienced so much worse in the past.  I know this is a weird time we are living in, but I am just so grateful to be here, with my husband and our son, and our grumpy dog.   Some highlights of 2021 were: (these may not be in order) 1.  We went to the reopening of Disneyland.  After 412 days of closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Disneyland was able to reopen and my family and I got to go.  It was such an incredible experience, being there, and e...

What Has Happened to the Book World??

Image
Hey! So as I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, I made an Instagram account for The Romance Bookie a couple of weeks ago.   There are some BEAUTIFUL instagram accounts for book reviewers/followers/collectors, whatever you want to call it nowadays.   I'm going into the "Bookstagram" world looking for a fun outlet, where I'll hopefully get back into reading, and just have fun sharing posts about books, my shelves, and even some other hobbies (i.e. Disney, Funko Pops, and DIY projects).   I've been in this for a very short time, and I'm so out of touch it seems with the book world, that I've come across a little bit of...maybe culture shock?  Not sure what to call it really,  but man I'm just going to say it... via GIPHY Is this like a job for people??? I mean, don't get me wrong, when I was doing this a few years ago, it got a bit intense at times.  Fellow book bloggers would get so competitive on getting their hands on certain ARCs, and even to th...

Navigating

I don't even know why I'm writing this post to be honest.  I think it is more to do with the fact that The Romance Bookie has been there for me, no matter what.  Which is weird, because it's a blog.  But it's my escape.  I don't do a lot of interacting anymore.  I've lost pretty much all of my contacts, which in one sense I am okay with, because when I slowed down The Romance Bookie, it had gotten to the point where it was almost a chore to keep it up.  I didn't want that anymore.   I started The Romance Bookie to have a place to talk about books.  No one in my life was interested in hearing me blab anymore about what I was reading that day, and I was feeling lonely, and found the perfect thing.   I've been having a bit of a hard time.  It's taking a toll on me.  Ever since I lost my dad, my life has been a bit darker.  A lot of joy was taken from my life when he passed away very unexpectedly.  One of those joys, was...

Update for 2021

Image
Hey Everyone! So life as a new mom is...hectic...to say the least. I absolutely freaking love it!  I honestly think I was meant to be a mama.  The amount of joy my little guy gives me far outweighs anything I have felt since meeting my husband (my only other source of joy).   That being said, postpartum is no joke.  My emotions are all over the place.  Giving birth has caused me to have some vitamin deficiencies, which I'm taking supplements for.  But do you know what no one talks about? Vitamin Deficiencies can mess with your mind and body. I mean it makes sense.  But I am so physically and mentally tired, it's not even funny.  And trust me, it is not because of my six month old!   Any-whoo, I have unfortunately not had the brain for reading recently, but I have instead been working on something else... Finally... After years... Being able to FINALLY DISPLAY ALL OF MY BOOKS AGAIN!!  It's a work in progress, but I am so proud of ho...

Update from The Romance Bookie! :)

Hey Everyone! I know I know it's been a while.  The hiatus I put the Romance Bookie on has done me a lot of good; that being said though I have definitely missed reading!! We are less than a few weeks away from The Romance Bookie's FIVE YEAR Blogaversary!!!  I can't believe it's been 5 years! Wow, what a ride it's been!  Not only was my world turned upside down by books and meeting such incredible authors and people in the book world, but also my overall life has changed so much! Next month, I will be letting go of one of my jobs, because life is crazy with two jobs, five classes, and spending time with my loved ones.  I will have some much needed time off, during the winter break.  First time in three years, where I will have weekends off! Oh goodness, am I excited about that!! In those five years, I met the most amazing man ever!  We have been together now two and a half years (December 6th), and moved in together this past summer.  To say th...

The Last Books have been Shelved!!

Image
My last books have OFFICIALLY been shelved!!! So I don't know if some of you know (I've mentioned this before in the last couple months), but my family and have been moving into our new home! My little brother and I started about a month ago.  It was a slow process... My parents have been building our home for the past FIVE years!! For the past five years we've been living in a pretty small home, where we each had our own bedroom (THANK GOD!!), but only ONE bathroom!! Yes, one bathroom for FOUR people!!! It was insane in the mornings!! Anyway, we now officially have each our own bathroom!!! :) YAY!! Anyway... My dad put up my last shelf today!! :) I always knew I had an insane amount of books, but didn't truly realize how bad it was, until I started moving them to all my new room...it took about 6 trips!! (luckily, our new house is in the back yard, so I just had to use a wagon, or dolly to cart them all over in boxes!) But still!! 6 trips!! In my old ...
