Eve Hallows Blog Tour (12/17)

Image
Today I am a stop on the Eve Hallows Blog Tour, which is hosted by I am a Reader, Not a Writer ! EVE HALLOWS AND THE BOOK OF SHRIEKS (BOOK 1) For fourteen-year-old Eve Hallows, life can be summed up in one word—horrible.  She has the most horrible friends.  She lives in a horrible old castle.  Even her family is a bunch of horrible monsters. However, in the monster-inhabited world of Gravesville—a world where messages are sent through Ouija boards, jack-o’-lanterns get facials to suit their moods, and the worst thing Eve has to deal with are those annoying zombie tourists who overrun her favorite graveyard during the Halloween season—horrible means wonderful.  And everything for Eve is perfectly horrible. But her life is about to go head over heels when a mysterious group known as The Source starts terrorizing Gravesville.  Now she must move to the human world—where everything is opposite ... and for Eve, that's absolutely adora...

Jersey Angel by Beth Ann Bauman review

Image
I originally received an ebook ARC copy of Jersey Angel from Netgalley, but didn't pick it up until I received an ARC paper copy from RandomBuzzers, when I realized just how short it was. And let me just say, Thank God it was this short! Because otherwise I honestly don't know if I would have finished it! I thought this book was horrible! Why? One word. Characters. Before I get into my thoughts here's is the unbiased description from  Amazon: It's the summer before senior year and the alluring Angel is ready to have fun. She's not like her best friend, Inggy, who has a steady boyfriend, good grades, and college plans. Angel isn't sure what she wants to do yet, but she has confidence and experience beyond her years. Still, her summer doesn't start out as planned. Her good friend Joey doesn't want to fool around anymore, he wants to be her boyfriend, while Angel doesn't want to be tied down. As Joey pulls away, and Inggy tours colleg...

Fifty Shades of Grey by EL James...Holy Sh#$!!!

Image
Before I truly begin, I must warn!! ***WARNING!!! FOR MATURE EYES ONLY!!!*** Okay...I don't even know where to begin... Let's see...hmmm...honestly?? I have no idea what to think! There are just so many words that come to mind when describing E.L. James' #1 New York Times Best Selling Book , Fifty Shades of Grey ... I'll start with the negatives first: Disgusting (tampon!! EWW!!!), controlling man (I HATE THAT!!!), beating, spanking, and a main character that is easy to manipulate. Now to the positives (and keep in mind some of these may be contradicting some of the words above, because like I said, I honestly don't know what to say): HOT!!!!, Sexy!!!, loving (some parts), WOW!!!, did I mention HOT???!!, and...oh probably a ton of others, but I can't think of any others right now. My head is reeling from this book!! This book is kinky! Sex filled, page after page of SEX!, Christian Grey can be so sweet, but then the next SUPER SCARY!!, and ...

Unread Books!

Image
Hey Everyone! So this is one of those posts that I've decided to do partly out of boredom, and partly because I LOVE making lists!! I actually have family coming to visit next week!  Something I'm SUPER excited about, because for one, I only get to see them once every two years, and two, because it's my Aunt and Uncle and they taking me to VEGAS for my 21st bday!!! That's right, LAS VEGAS!!! Anyway, you know how it is when company is coming! Clean Up time!  So I've been doing sort of a late spring cleaning thing the last couple of days!  And while I hate cleaning, the one thing I LOVE doing when I clean up is reorganize my books!! My book shelves have been bothering me for weeks!  I have reorganize them about once every couple of months, because they look so messy, only because I end up having to start stacking books on top of each other, because there is no more room! Well anyway, today I finally got to them!! And I ended up making a list!  A list of boo...

Lia's Guide to Winning the Lottery by Keren David

Image
I won Keren David's Lia's Guide to Winning the Lottery from Library Thing , a signed copy of it actually, which I was pretty stoked on life about! :) It's taken me a couple of months to read it, but I've finally gotten to it, and am really glad! This book really caught my eye, because of the word: Lottery.  Who doesn't want to win the lottery, right??  I sure would! I don't know exactly what I would do with all that money.  Personally, I think I would be really scared because I'd be afraid I spend it all and then have no money again! And has anyone else heard of the curse of winning the lottery?? I am seriously not making this up! Here's an article explaining what I'm talking about!  It's scary! Especially for a superstitious person like me! Anyway, so Lia is main character in Keren's new book, which was released this year in the US and last year in the UK.  Lia is sixteen, and she wants is a vintage leather jacket she saw hanging in ...

Why Couldn't these Have been Books Before Movies?? Part 2

Image
Hey everyone! So this Part 2 of Why Couldn't These Have Been Books Before Movies?? ( Part 1 is Here ).  I have SOOOO many favorite movies, and even though among them many were based on books when they were made into a movie, quite a few of them were not.  This week features a movie that is on my list of ALL-TIME Favorite Movies!!  But I think I'm going to leave it for last...:) Valentine's Day : Directed by Garry Marshall (the director of The Princess Diaries and Pretty Woman ), featuring an internationally known cast, including Anne Hathaway, Julia Roberts, Hector Elizondo (all actors that have been in past Marshall films), Jennifer Garner, Taylor Lautner, Patrick Dempsey, Ashton Kutcher, and Taylor Swift. Description ( From imdb ): Intertwining couples and singles in Los Angeles break-up and make-up based on the pressures and expectations of Valentine's Day.  My thoughts: I really like Garry Marshall's films.  I thought this one was felt re...

Why Couldn't these Have been Books before Movies?? Part 1

Image
Happy Monday Everyone! In this case I can't even say "Just another Manic Monday" because technically today nothing is open due to Memorial Day.  So before I keep going, let me just say a HUGE thank you to all veterans, and current soldiers who have served! So I know most of you already know how much I love books, but what you may not know is that I am a HUGE movie junkie!  In fact, here is a picture of my movie collection: I do admit I am pretty darn proud of my collection! And yes, on the stand with "Smallville" that is "Lizzie McGuire" you see there! :) Well anyway, I was watching an episode of Grey's Anatomy yesterday (which by the way, is yet ANOTHER show my mom is possibly getting me hooked on!!!) and Christina Ricci was a guest star on it.  And every time I see Christina I think of one of my all time favorite movies, which she starred in, Penelope , and it made me think about something...is Penelope based on a book? I checked it out,...

Anna and the French Kiss Review

Image
Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins...first off, there is one thing I want to know...what took this LONG TO READ THIS??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? That's what I was asking myself through reading Anna the entire time! WHAT?? Anna and the French Kiss is about a seventeen year old teenage girl, named Anna, whose father ships her off to an America boarding school in Paris named School of America in Paris (or SOAP).  Anna already know she's going to hate SOAP! I mean how couldn't she? She's had to leave behind her best friend, little brother whom she adores, and her boyfriend (oh, okay, not quite boyfriend, but it was EXTREMELY close!!).  Anna is in for the year of her life... Upon arriving she meet Etienne St. Clair, a super handsome born American, with a British accent, who grew up in France with great hair!  Unfortunately, Anna finds out almost immediately that St. Clair is off-limits.  Not only does he have ...

IMM #5

Image
In My Mailbox was originally started by The Story Siren and it's where anyone can participate and let everyone know what they got in books, and other book related things, throughout a given time.  Anyone with a blog can join in, and you can post once a week, once a month, or whenever you choose to. Okay, so I heard about all the drama going around the book blogging community...and while many will not agree with me, I have chosen to ignore it.  It isn't that I am not upset about what happened...believe me; I am, in fact very disappointed.  What she did was wrong, and she should definitely own up to it.  I guess what I'm overall trying to say (and this will be the only time I discuss this!), I am not going to get myself involved in this mess, with my opinions.  I'm sorry, but I lived through enough drama in high school, and do NOT want any more in my life.  I am a freaking grown woman after all!  A young one at that, but none the less an...

The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick

Image
I saw the movie Hugo (directed by Martin Scorsese) right before the New Year.  Let me back track, and let you know that usually I am NOT a fan of Oscar movies.  If I'm being honest, I find them to be boring.  However, this year has seemed to bring quite a few more exceptions than normal.  Among those are: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 , The Help , and Hugo.   I fell in love with Hugo .  I thought it so beautifully done.  The music, the characters, the story.  I found myself crying even at points that wouldn't necessarily make you cry.  I honestly, didn't know the movie was based on a book; but when I found out at the end, I knew I had to read it. The winner of the Children's Caldecott Award, The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick is nothing like anything I've ever read.  Normally, when I read I imagine the story that I am reading  unfolding in my head like a movie; but with The Invention of Hugo ...
