Dash & Lily Netflix Review

Image
Hey Everyone! Being a new mom my schedule is super sporadic!  I never know how my day is going to go, because it all depends on how my baby feels.   When I do have "free time" it consists of holding him, or having him sleep next to me, while I watch TV.  We've been working on his sleep schedule, but since he is still so very young (7 weeks old), there isn't too much we can do.  One thing that has been a slight problem, but is slowly getting better, is that he doesn't like being alone when he is sleeping.  He somehow always knows when we have left his side, and he freaks out almost immediately and starts crying.  It can be a bit difficult when you're trying to do something (like go to the bathroom! 😂), but I'm enjoying my time so much with him.  And who am I to argue that he is letting me catch up on shows and movies! So yesterday a new show was released on Netflix... Dash & Lily .   It's based on the book by David Levithan and Rachel Co...

Erin: A Darker Shade of Magic (A Darker Shade of Magic #1) by V.E. Schwab

Image
Hi Everyone! Today, I've got A Darker Shade of Magic to share with you! It's a new book by V.E. Schwab-otherwise known as Victoria Schwab! From Goodreads: Kell is one of the last Travelers—rare magicians who choose a parallel universe to visit. Grey London is dirty, boring, lacks magic, ruled by mad King George. Red London is where life and magic are revered, and the Maresh Dynasty presides over a flourishing empire. White London is ruled by whoever has murdered their way to the throne. People fight to control magic, and the magic fights back, draining the city to its very bones. Once there was Black London - but no one speaks of that now. Officially, Kell is the Red Traveler, personal ambassador and adopted Prince of Red London, carrying the monthly correspondences between royals of each London. Unofficially, Kell smuggles for those willing to pay for even a glimpse of a world they’ll never see. This dangerous hobby sets him up for accidental treason. Fleeing in...

Erin: All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

Image
Hey Guys! Another contemporary read. This book was recommended to me by a friend who told me it was her favorite book of the year.  I can truthfully say that this is one of the most powerful books I've ever read.  It really hits you in the gut and takes your breath away. From Goodreads : The Fault in Our Stars  meets  Eleanor and Park  in this exhilarating and heart-wrenching love story about a girl who learns to live from a boy who intends to die. Soon to be a major motion picture starring Elle Fanning!   Theodore Finch  is fascinated by death, and he constantly thinks of ways he might kill himself. But each time, something good, no matter how small, stops him.   Violet Markey  lives for the future, counting the days until graduation, when she can escape her Indiana town and her aching grief in the wake of her sister’s recent death.   When Finch and Violet meet on the ledge of the bell tower at school, it’s unclear who saves wh...

Erin: The Last Time We Say Goodbye by Cynthia Hand

Image
Hello!  A new book from the author of the Unearthly Trilogy -- Cynthia Hand! This is a vastly different book from Unearthly .  It's a much heavier subject matter and it's a contemporary -- although it does involve a ghost...Anyways, here is my review below! From Goodreads : There's death all around us. We just don't pay attention. Until we do. The last time Lex was happy, it was before. When she had a family that was whole. A boyfriend she loved. Friends who didn't look at her like she might break down at any moment. Now she's just the girl whose brother killed himself. And it feels like that's all she'll ever be. As Lex starts to put her life back together, she tries to block out what happened the night Tyler died. But there's a secret she hasn't told anyone-a text Tyler sent, that could have changed everything. Lex's brother is gone. But Lex is about to discover that a ghost doesn't have to be real to keep you from moving on. Fr...

Fifty Shades of Grey (Movie Review)

Image
***WARNING!!!***This Post Contains Content NOT intended for anyone under the age of 18!!!*** Hey Everyone!! So the other day, my amazing boyfriend went with me to see Fifty Shades of Grey  in XD (or IMAX, depending on what theater you go to). What was cool was that because it was a Tuesday and the show was at 4 in the afternoon, we were literally THE ONLY people in the entire theater!!!  So it kind of felt like a private showing for just the two of us!!!! I know, I know, I am very late in reviewing this one; since everyone who wanted to see it, saw it most likely during opening weekend.  We just couldn't get ourselves to do it.  Valentine's Day was spent as a quiet evening, making dinner, and watching a movie in bed, which honestly our preferred choice any day of the week. But anyway, lets get to the review!!! From IMDb : Literature Student Anastasia Steele's life changes forever when she meets handsome, yet tormented, billionaire Christian G...

Erin: Exquisite Captive (Dark Caravan Cycle #1) by Heather Demetrios

Image
Yay!! Here's a review of  Exquisite Captive , the first book in the Dark Caravan Cycle! From Goodreads: Forced to obey her master. Compelled to help her enemy. Determined to free herself.  Nalia is a jinni of tremendous ancient power, the only survivor of a coup that killed nearly everyone she loved. Stuffed into a bottle and sold by a slave trader, she’s now in hiding on the dark caravan, the lucrative jinni slave trade between Arjinna and Earth, where jinn are forced to grant wishes and obey their human masters’ every command. She’d give almost anything to be free of the golden shackles that bind her to Malek, her handsome, cruel master, and his lavish Hollywood lifestyle. Enter Raif, the enigmatic leader of Arjinna’s revolution and Nalia’s sworn enemy. He promises to free Nalia from her master so that she can return to her ravaged homeland and free her imprisoned brother—all for an unbearably high price. Nalia’s not sure she can trust him, but Raif’s her only h...

Erin: The Young Elites (The Young Elites #1) by Marie Lu

Image
Hi Everyone!!  I hope everyone had a great holiday season and hope you are having a great new year!   The Young Elites  is a new fantasy series by Marie Lu, the author of the Legend  trilogy! Having absolutely loved Legend , this was a book I was really looking forward to!  I mean, an awesome new fantasy written by Marie Lu! I'm totally down for it! From Goodreads : I am tired of being used, hurt, and cast aside. Adelina Amouteru is a survivor of the blood fever.  A decade ago, the deadly illness swept through her nation. Most of the infected perished, while many of the children who survived were left with strange markings. Adelina’s black hair turned silver, her lashes went pale, and now she has only a jagged scar where her left eye once was. Her cruel father believes she is a malfetto, an abomination, ruining their family’s good name and standing in the way of their fortune. But some of the fever’s survivors are rumored to possess more than just sc...

Movie Review: Divergent

Image
Hey Everyone!! Here's another movie review!! So again, just like The Maze Runner   which I reviewed today as well, we watched Divergent  for Christmas!  Now, I actually saw this one when it was in theaters, but for some reason I guess I completely forgot to review it! Description and picture from  IMDb : In a world divided by factions based on virtues, Tris learns she's Divergent and won't fit in. When she discovers a plot to destroy Divergents, Tris and the mysterious Four must find out what makes Divergents dangerous before it's too late. My Thoughts: Just like the first time, the second time I saw Divergent  it was still really good!  We actually own this one now, it was a Christmas present, so I can watch whenever!! Anyway, another Dystopian, where I couldn't get into the book.  To be fair, I may have not been in the mind set when I first started reading this one, but I also own it on Audiobook, so maybe one day I'll give...

Image
Hi Everyone!! I've got yet another review for you today! Salt & Storm  by debut author Kendall Kulper!! From Goodreads : You don't know what you must give up to become a witch. Avery Roe wants only to claim her birthright as the witch of Prince Island and to make the charms that have kept the island's sailors safe at sea for generations, but instead she is held prisoner by her mother in a magic-free life of proper manners and respectability. Avery thinks escape is just a matter of time, but when she has a harrowing nightmare, she can see what it means: She will be killed. She will be murdered. And she's never been wrong before. Desperate to change her future, Avery finds a surprising ally in Tane—a tattooed harpoon boy with magic of his own, who moves her in ways she never expected. Vampire Academy (Movie Review)

Image
So guys, I've been on the Vampire Academy craze for the past two weeks now!  I've become absolutely addicted to the books! Addicted! In fact, before I even finished the first one I drove to Barnes and Noble, renewed my membership, and bought book two!  I haven't done that in the longest time! I swear! In fact, the last time I did that was during my Twilight  craze in 2008, during my senior year of high school.  Hmm...vampires make me do crazy things, I guess. ;) Anyway, tonight I saw Vampire Academy, the movie!  After reading the book, I forced myself not to see any trailers, because I wanted to be 100% surprised going in. And this morning, I was hearing some early reviews, saying how awesome it was and how close to the book it was! So naturally, I was excited! Well...I'm just going to go straight to the point... I HATED IT! I'm sorry, I honestly don't use that word very often ("Hate"), but honestly that was one of the WORST movies I have eve...

Being Me (Inside Out #2) by Lisa Renee Jones

Image
Finished another book this week!! YAY!!! From Goodreads : The sexy second installment in the Inside Out erotic romance trilogy, following  If I Were You —in the seductive tradition of  Fifty Shades of Grey .  Fascinated by the dark fantasies in the journals she’s discovered, and the two men who have now found a place in her life, Sara McMillan finds herself torn between her new life and her past. Now, more than ever, Sara identifies with the lost journal writer, Rebecca, and is certain that something sinister has happened. In the arms of the sexy, tormented artist Chris Merit, Sara seeks answers about Rebecca and ends up discovering things about herself she never knew existed. Chris forces Sara to reconsider who she is and what she truly wants from life, but not before his dark desires threaten to tear them apart. Her boss, Mark Compton, offers her the shelter to understand just what those needs mean to her, and what they might have meant to Rebecca, but can she...

Keeping Her by Cora Carmack (Losing It #1.5) Novella Review (ARC)

Image
Hey everyone! So I finished Cora Carmack's new novella!! Love her Losing It  series! From Goodreads : Garrick Taylor and Bliss Edwards managed to find their happily-ever-after despite a rather . . . ahem . . . complicated start. By comparison, meeting the parents should be an absolute breeze, right? But from the moment the pair lands in London, new snags just keep cropping up: a disapproving mother-in-law-to-be, more than one (mostly) minor mishap, and the realization that perhaps they aren't quite as ready for their future as they thought. As it turns out, the only thing harder than finding love is keeping it. My Thoughts: With only about a 100 pages this is such a cute continuation of Garrick and Bliss's story from  Losing It .  I truly enjoyed it!  These two make such a cute couple that have the reader hoping more than anything that they will make it. Overall rating: Super cute! Only complaint I have is that I wish we could have gotten more of a...

Meg-A Readers Recap #7 (Review of "How to Be Popular"!)

Image
Hey Everyone! Week 7 has come and gone for Meg-A Readers and now it's time for that recap!! :) But first it's time for my weekly Meg Cabot themed tidbit! :) This week I've got a review of Meg's How to Be Popular , which I started during the Meg-A Readers Read-A-Thon, but unfortunately was unable to finish in time, just because this summer has been CRAZY!! Anyway... From  Goodreads : Do you want to be popular? Everyone wants to be popular or at least, Stephanie Landry does. Steph's been the least popular girl in her class since a certain cherry Super Big Gulp catastrophe five years earlier. Does being popular matter? It matters very much to Steph. That's why this year, she has a plan to get in with the It Crowd in no time flat. She's got a secret weapon: an old book called what else? "How to Be Popular." What does it take to be popular? All Steph has to do is follow the instructions in The Book, and soon she'll be partying wit...

Hey Everyone!!
