City of Glass

I have spent this entire day pretty much laying on the floor next to one of my babies (I call my dogs my babies :)), and reading the third installment in Cassandra Clare's gripping series, City of Glass.  And let me just tell you...I was HOOKED!! I seriously LOVE this series! I am a little glad that this one ended more like a more real ending, unlike the last two which ended on hooks, because I seriously want to wait for the fourth book City of Fallen Angels comes out in paperback next year.  I know that probably sounds lame, but I have the first three in paperback and then getting that last book in hardcover always makes my collection feel weird :).  It's going to be tough! I mean seriously!! City of Fallen Angels only came out a few months ago!! Which means unfortunately for me, I will have to wait another year probably...let's see if I can do it ;).

Anyway the third novel City of Glass takes off where the last book City of Ashes left off, with Clary and Jace trying to find their father, Valentine and stop him from ruining Shadowhunter world.  What I found interesting, and hadn't even realized before, is that the first three books takes place over only 1 month of time! I seriously thought for some reason it was longer than that! I was thinking maybe 6 months or so, I don't know why though.  But anyway, Clary and Jace go to the City of Glass, aka Alicante, in this novel; with the rest of the gang.  Who do I mean by the "rest of the gang"? Well, that would be the Lightwoods, Alec, Isabelle, Max, and their parents; Luke, Simon, and Magnus Bane (the Warlock).
They all go to the city to persuade the Clave (they're sort of the rulers of Alicante (think Volturi from The Twilight Saga...sort of... :)), of what Valentine's plans are.  Valentine has already found two out of the three Mortal Instruments, the Mortal Cup, and the Mortal Sword...he's only missing one thing now...the mirror.  If he gets his hands on that mirror he will be able unite all three into summoning the angel, Raziel, who will grant him one wish...

Jace and Clary's relationship problems...might just be solved in this book. I KNEW IT!! The entire time I was reading the series, I was thinking, "It can't be! This has got to be some kind of sick joke!".  Unfortunately, you will have to read the books to find out what I'm talking about... ;). Sorry...

Overall Rating:

Alright guys, that's it again from me! I hope you have a great rest of your weekend, despite all the sad memories that will most likely swarm back to us, through the memorial of this ten year anniversary today.

The Romance Bookie :)

PS: If any of you decide to read City of Glass then I would definitely recommend reading Cassandra Clare's Acknowledgements at the beginning of the novel! She talks about hanging out with Libba Bray (the author of The Great and Terrible Beauty) and Scott Westerfeld (the author of The Uglies Series)
