Guest Review from Erin: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

Image
Jane Eyre , one of my favorite books ever!!! Not that this book needs a review or anything, but since I read it again recently, I thought I'd sum up my thoughts and feelings about it!! If you haven't read it, no worries, there aren't any spoilers!! Because, let's face it, just because it's a classic doesn't mean I want spoilers!!! :) From Goodreads : Orphaned into the household of her Aunt Reed at Gateshead, subject to the cruel regime at Lowood charity school, Jane Eyre nonetheless emerges unbroken in spirit and integrity. She takes up the post of governess at Thornfield, falls in love with Mr. Rochester, and discovers the impediment to their lawful marriage in a story that transcends melodrama to portray a woman's passionate search for a wider and richer life than Victorian society traditionally allowed. With a heroine full of yearning, the dangerous secrets she encounters, and the choices she finally makes, Charlotte Bronte's innov...

Guest Review from Erin: Teardrop (Teardrop #1) by Lauren Kate

Image
Hello! I've got a review for you!   Teardrop by Lauren Kate, who also wrote the Fallen  series!!  This is the first book in a duology-came out a while ago! Anyway, on to the review! From Goodreads : Never, ever cry... Seventeen-year-old Eureka won't let anyone close enough to feel her pain. After her mother was killed in a freak accident, the things she used to love hold no meaning. She wants to escape, but one thing holds her back: Ander, the boy who is everywhere she goes, whose turquoise eyes are like the ocean. And then Eureka uncovers an ancient tale of romance and heartbreak, about a girl who cried an entire continent into the sea. Suddenly her mother's death and Ander's appearance seem connected, and her life takes on dark undercurrents that don't make sense. Can everything you love be washed away? Erin's Review: Wow, this is a book that can really suck you in.  Although it isn't my favorite book or anything, I found it super engrossing.  I...

Dirty Rowdy Thing (Wild Seasons #2) by Christina Lauren (ARC)

Image
Hey Everyone!! Finally a review for you! :) This one is for Dirty Rowdy Thing  (Wild Season #2) by two of my favorite authors: Christina Lauren! :) From Goodreads : From the New York Times bestselling author of Beautiful Bastard, Beautiful Stranger, and Beautiful Player, Book Two of the brand-new Wild Seasons series that started with Sweet Filthy Boy—a story of friends, love, and lust. Despite their rowdy hookups, Harlow and Finn don’t even like each other...which would explain why their marriage lasted only twelve hours. He needs to be in charge and takes whatever he wants. She lives by the Want-something-done? Do-it-yourself mantra. Maybe she’s too similar to the rugged fisherman—or just what he needs.   My Thoughts: First off, I'm a huge fan of Christina and Lauren's!  I have reviewed and loved all of their books! I reviewed the first book in the Wild Season  Series,  Sweet Filthy Boy  back in May when it first came out and truly enjoyed it...

Guest Review from Erin: Defy (Defy #1) by Sara B. Larson

Image
WooHoo!!! Defy  was a book that I had been checking out a lot every time I went to the bookstore.  It caught my eye from the very first time I saw it and when I read the synopsis, it sounded right up my alley.  But despite this, for some reason, I kept putting off reading it.  I have no idea why??!! But I'm glad to say that I finally did read it and had a blast!! From Goodreads : Alexa Hollen is a fighter. Forced to disguise herself as a boy and serve in the king's army, Alex uses her quick wit and fierce sword-fighting skills to earn a spot on the elite prince's guard. But when a powerful sorcerer sneaks into the palace in the dead of night, even Alex, who is virtually unbeatable, can't prevent him from abducting her, her fellow guard and friend Rylan, and Prince Damian, taking them through the treacherous wilds of the jungle and deep into enemy territory. The longer Alex is held captive with both Rylan and the prince, the more she realizes that she is not t...

Guest Review from Erin: Monstrous Beauty by Elizabeth Fama

Image
If you remember, I reviewed Plus One  by Elizabeth Fama a couple of months ago!  I love  that book and so naturally, I went out and got Monstrous Beauty to read!! From Goodreads : Fierce, seductive mermaid Syrenka falls in love with Ezra, a young naturalist. When she abandons her life underwater for a chance at happiness on land, she is unaware that this decision comes with horrific and deadly consequences. Almost one hundred forty years later, seventeen-year-old Hester meets a mysterious stranger named Ezra and feels overwhelmingly, inexplicably drawn to him. For generations, love has resulted in death for the women in her family. Is it an undiagnosed genetic defect . . . or a curse? With Ezra’s help, Hester investigates her family’s strange, sad history. The answers she seeks are waiting in the graveyard, the crypt, and at the bottom of the ocean—but powerful forces will do anything to keep her from uncovering her connection to Syrenka and to the tragedy of so lo...

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 (Movie Review)

Image
Hey Everyone!! I know I know, the last couple of months, barely anything in posting, and now for three days in a row, there have been posts?!! Well, I actually have an entire week off from one of my jobs, and am A TINY bit ahead with my homework, because that is how I do ;), so I've actually had a little bit of extra time!  Plus, I think I am getting my groove back when it comes to reading :). Anyway, my mom and I went to see The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1  this afternoon!! From  IMBD I reviewed Mockingjay  back in 2011, and didn't really know what to think of the end of the series.  To this day, I'm actually really curious as to know what was going through Suzanne Collin's head as she was finishing up the series. One thing I was certain of though, before seeing the movie was how could they split a 300-something page book, where not much really happens in the first half, into TWO movies??? I mean, I get it! MONEY, MONEY! That's life, un...
