Guest Review from Erin: Blood Red Road (Dustlands book #1) by Moira Young

Image
Happy Friday Everyone!!! From Goodreads : Saba lives in Silverlake, a wasteland ravaged by constant sandstorms where her family scavenge from landfills left by the long-gone Wrecker civilization. After four cloaked horsemen kidnap her beloved twin brother Lugh, she teams up with daredevil Jack and the Free Hawks, a girl gang of Revolutionaries.   Saba learns that she is a fierce fighter, an unbeatable survivor, and a cunning opponent. And she has the power to take down a corrupt society from the inside. Saba and her new friends stage a showdown that change the course of her civilization. Erin's Thoughts: WOAH!! Blood Red Road is definitely an exciting read! There's a ton of action going on and it's always moving forward!! I think I should start off by saying that this book is entirely written in an accent, so a lot of words are misspelled and the grammar is often times wrong.  Also, there are no quotation marks used AT ALL!! I know this could put a lot of peop...

Guest Post from Erin: Meeting Brodi Ashton, Jodi Meadows, and Cynthia Hand!

Image
Hey Everyone! Brodi Ashton ( Everneath Series), Jodi Meadows ( Incarnate Series ), Cynthia Hand ( Unearthly Series ) Book Event!! Can you believe it? All three of those authors together in one event!!!! Aah!!! It was basically my dream come true!! Yay!! So I had been waiting for this event for a long time!! I actually emailed Jodi Meadows telling her how amazing she and her books are (cause I'm a dork like that) and then I casually  mentioned that she should stop by Salt Lake City, should she get the chance!! To my delight, Jodi emailed me back and told me that she, Brodi and Cynthia were meeting up in SLC for a writing retreat and that they would be planning an event!! I was so excited!! I, of course, immediately took credit for this phenomenon and told everyone (aka my mom) that I emailed an author and asked her to come to SLC and she totally granted my request!! Okay, so I massaged the truth a little, but still, cool, huh?? So, needless to say, I was SO EXCITED for this ...

Guest Review by Erin! Salvage by Alexandra Duncan

Image
Hey Everyone! Here's another review from Erin!! :) From Goodreads : Salvage   is a thrilling, surprising, and thought-provoking debut novel that will appeal to fans of   Across the Universe , by Beth Revis, and   The Handmaid's Tale , by Margaret Atwood. This is literary science fiction with a feminist twist, and it explores themes of choice, agency, rebellion, and family.   Ava, a teenage girl living aboard the male-dominated, conservative deep space merchant ship Parastrata, faces betrayal, banishment, and death. Taking her fate into her own hands, she flees to the Gyre, a floating continent of garbage and scrap in the Pacific Ocean.   This is a sweeping and harrowing novel about a girl who can't read or write or even withstand the forces of gravity. What choices will she make? How will she build a future on an earth ravaged by climate change?   Named by the American Booksellers Association as a Spring 2014 Indies Introduce Pick. Erin's Thought...

Guest Post from Erin!!! Author Event featuring Kami Garcia, Margaret Stohl, Shannon Hale and So Many Others! :)

Image
From Erin: So last Tuesday I was able to attend the launching event for Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl's new book Dangerous Creatures !! So a lot of you probably know this, but this is a spin off series from Beautiful Creatures  featuring Lena's cousin Ridley (and Link)! The event was JUST AWESOME!! Not only were Kami and Margaret there, but the amazing Shannon Hale, author of Goose Girl , was the mediator!! And in addition to the panel members, Ally Condie ( Matched ), Ann Dee Ellis ( The End or Something Like That ), Christina Hobbs aka the Christina of Christina Lauren ( Sweet Filthy Boy ), and some others!! I got to talk to Ally Condie and tell her how much I love her books, but unfortunately I haven't read Ann Dee Ellis, and I didn't even recognize Christina Lauren until way afterwards, although I haven't read her books either :(.  There was also a band, Dom Liberati, that played during the signing. From Left to Right: Kami Garcia, ...

All Lined Up (Rusk University #1) by Cora Carmack (ARC)

Image
Hey Everyone!! So I finished Cora Carmack's newest novel All Lined Up, the first book in her new series Rusk University,  and I'm so darn excited to share with you my review!! When I was given the opportunity to review this one a few months ago for the blog tour, I instantly jumped at the chance; which for some of you, if you've been reading up on my blog for a while now, know that I haven't been the best reader in the past months, therefore haven't really been accepting any review request/blog tour dates, only because my schedule has been so crazy busy, I just haven't had the chance to read as much as I've wanted! Anyway, I did it! I read my first blog tour book in like almost a year, I think!! Therefore, it's time to give myself a pat on the back ;). From Goodreads : New York Times   and   USA Today   bestselling author Cora Carmack follows up her trio of hits—Losing It, Faking It, and Finding It—with this thrilling first novel in an explo...

And it's Tuesday! :) I can't believe this is the fourth day in a row that I have a post to post!!  WOW, a new record...at least for the past year! ;) Anyway, I finished Don't Even Think About It by Sarah Mlynowski yesterday!! From Goodreads : Contemporary teen fiction with romance, secrets, scandals, and ESP from the author of  Ten Things We Did (And Probably Shouldn't Have) . We weren't always like this. We used to be average New York City high school sophomores. Until our homeroom went for flu shots. We were prepared for some side effects. Maybe a headache. Maybe a sore arm. We definitely didn't expect to get telepathic powers. But suddenly we could hear what everyone was thinking. Our friends. Our parents. Our crushes. Now we all know that Tess is in love with her best friend, Teddy. That Mackenzie cheated on Cooper. That, um, Nurse Carmichael used to be a stripper. Since we've kept our freakish skill a secret, we can sit next to the class brai...
