Still on My Mind #19

Still on My Mind is a weekly meme, featured on Thursday, started by Haley over at Ya-Aholic, where you discuss a book you've either recently read, or read over the past few years, that's still on your mind.

For this week's Still on My Mind, I've decided to pick a book in honor of October's Bully Prevention Month.   I read Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, last year (Review HERE), and since then I just have not been able to get it out of my head.

It was one of the most beautiful, devastating novels I have ever read.

Goodreads Description:
Clay Jensen returns home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers thirteen cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker, his classmate and crush who committed suicide two weeks earlier.
On tape, Hannah explains that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Clay is one of them. If he listens, he'll find out how he made the list.
Through Hannah and Clay's dual narratives, debut author Jay Asher weaves an intricate and heartrending story of confusion and desperation that will deeply affect teen readers.

This book should be a spoke's book for suicide and bullying!  Absolutely gorgeous story that will have you crying, in fact bawling your eyes out, and wishing more than anything you could have done something for Hannah.

  2. I read 13 Reasons Why, I believe they are making it into a movie too. I am one of the few people that thought it was just okay, but I can see it being a good movie.

    1. Yeah I heard they were making a movie too. Last December it was announced that the release was estimated to be at the beginning of 2013, and that Selena Gomez was supposed to be playing Hannah, but it no longer says so on her wikipedia page, and I don't believe they have started the filming yet.

Hopefully, they do make a movie out of it though.
