Clockwork Princess (#3 in the Infernal Devices Trilogy) by Cassandra Clare

***WARNING!!! MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FROM PREVIOUS BOOKS IN THE INFERNAL DEVICES TRILOGY!!!***

Let me just begin this review by saying I literally just used up half a box of tissues as I read the last 30 or so pages of Clockwork Princess.
I'm a very emotional person.  Especially when it comes to the books I'm reading.
I can't even tell you how many times I have cried while reading a book...just to name a few...Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Princess Forever (the 10th Princess Diaries book by Meg Cabot), The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher...the list goes on and on!

Let me also say, I fall in love with characters.  Like a deep love!  Like deep deep love!  I find myself pretending that the main character is usually my best friend, and I'm listening to her story, as I'm falling in love with the main male character of the story!  That's how it is! I can't help it!

Well, Clockwork Princess was no exception...

From Goodreads:

Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices, #3)
Danger and betrayal, secrets and enchantment in the breathtaking conclusion to the Infernal Devices trilogy.

Tessa Gray should be happy - aren't all brides happy?
Yet as she prepares for her wedding, a net of shadows begins to tighten around the Shadowhunters of the London Institute.
A new demon appears, one linked by blood and secrecy to Mortmain, the man who plans to use his army of pitiless automatons, the Infernal Devices, to destroy the Shadowhunters. Mortmain needs only one last item to complete his plan. He needs Tessa. And Jem and Will, the boys who lay equal claim to Tessa's heart, will do anything to save her.

My Thoughts:
I cried!  Like no joke, literally cried! Snot, tissues, tears rolling down the face, heaving as I'm trying to catch my breath...it ALL happened as I was finishing this book!

I had my suspicions, some changed as I was reading this book, and honestly in the end they almost all came true!  I was totally right about the big thing!!!!!!!!!!  (Hint, hint...it involves Jem!).

I read City of Bones by Cassandra Clare (the first in the Mortal Instrument series) almost two years ago and absolutely got sucked into the craze!  I had had it sitting on my shelf for probably over two or three year before I had even considered picking it up, just because another book always got in the way!

But boy, am I glad I read it!

Last year, right before the release of Cassie's Clockwork Prince, I picked up my copy of Clockwork Angel and got sucked into Cassie's world once again, but this time in the past!

Last month when I got to meet Cassandra Clare I got to pick up my copy of Clockwork Princess.  And while, I saw many people who started reading their copies as soon as I received them, I found myself not being able to!  Why?  Because I was sad that it was the last book! I have a serious problems with endings!! I love them, but I hate reading them at the same time, because I'm sad that it's the last book with these characters that I have fallen in love with!

Well, after reading it for almost two weeks, I finally finished the third and final book in the Infernal Devices Trilogy, Clockwork Princess!
And while it took me quite some time, and some people might take that as I sign as I hated it, well, those people couldn't be more wrong!

Overall rating...
As soon as I finished that last page, and was still waiting for the tears to dry off of my face, I put this book on my "All Time Favorite Books" list! It was amazing! It was everything I could have hoped for, and while the ending was absolutely devastating, it couldn't have had a better ending!  At least one, that made sense to the overall story!
It was perfect!
And while, many have said whether you're Team Will or Team Jem, throughout these series, I believe both readers will be happy!  But at the same time, as much as I love Jem, I will be forever more Team Will! ;)

Definitely read it!! You can get your copy of Clockwork Princess either at Barnes and Noble or Amazon!
But DON'T forget to read Books 1 and 2 first!!! Clockwork Angel & Clockwork Prince!!!!

OHHHH and before I forget I have a warning!!! If you want to be 100% surprised by the ending DO NOT LOOK AT THE FAMILY TREES THAT CASSIE ADDED BEHIND THE BOOK JACKET OF THE HARDCOVER EDITION OF CLOCKWORK PRINCESS!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone! :)

  1. I 100% agree with you! I hate reading the last book in a series, which is why I waited about a week to start reading Clockwork Princess. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put the book down! I really wanted to take my time and savior the last book in the Infernal Devices series, but I just couldn't slow down. By the Epilogue I was crying like a baby. This was seriously a perfect ending to an Epic Trilogy :D! Love and Agree with what you say in your review :D!

  2. I adored the stories of the secondary characters, I was shipping Sophie and Gideon so hard. I wish for novellas about all the characters. I'm just not ready to let go of them. I loved Clockwork Princess and I was pretty satisfied with the book.

I was practically rooting for a polygamous relationship. I liked Will and Jem and I didn't feel like the epilogue cheapened Will/Tessa though I agree that it was difficult believing Tessa loved Jem the same way she loved Will throughout the book. I think she loved Jem differently. At least you enjoyed the other romances.
