You Guys!
My baby is two months old today!! ðŸ˜
My little 6 lbs 13 oz, 19 inch baby boy has turned into a 11 lbs, 21 inch baby boy right before my eyes!
Time is flying by! Everyday is a new adventure with him.
He went from being this...
To this...
Before I know it he'll be graduating high school.

He's growing up so fast!
He went from being a cute little potato (as my husband likes to call all newborns 😂) to a full blown infant!
My husband and I see changes daily. Not only appearance (because holy moly he almost doesn't look like the same baby!) but also in his development!
There are certain milestones parents look for as their baby gets older.
Each time Alex hits one of those milestones, my husband and I are over the moon! We call each others names, to rush over, and swoon over our baby boy as he impresses us more and more.
As a parent, you will find that your child is the best child in the entire world, and that they are a genius every time they accomplish anything. At least, as a mom that's me. My husband likes to say otherwise, but I see him smiling with pride each time he sees something new. 😊
This month's developments include:
- more and more eye contact
- moving eyes in the direction of sounds
- cooing
- paying attention, for short period of times at least, to Mommy and Daddy
- Beginning to recognize the sight of Mommy and Daddy
- Soothing himself a bit more
- and my absolute favorite...SMILING!
My baby boy has finally begun smiling!
Smiling and baby laughter I have been looking forward to the most!
We had a bit of a scary month though. Our little guy was having some really day and nights. And we mean bad. Crying and screaming for hours on end. Tummy problems. Not sleeping well. It being obvious that he was in pain at times.
Unfortunately, I was not able to breast feed (more on that in another post), and so our son eats formula pretty much exclusively. Well, formula, while an amazing invention for women who are unable to feed their children breast milk, does come with its problems. There are so many on the market, with all different types of ingredients and nutrients, that some babies are not able to properly digest them.
As I mentioned in a previous post
"The Discussion of "Wanting" a Baby", we were some issues finding the right one. We think we've finally found it, but it looks weeks, lots of painful nights, and hours and hours of straight crying.
Along the way, we found out our little guy had an infection.
We ended up spending three days in the hospital a couple of weeks ago.
It was one of the scariest moments of our lives.
The type of infection he had, while not a problem for most people to fight, could have ended really badly. In fact, pretty much all infections at such a young age are life threatening.
We, luckily, found it very early and brought him in immediately when we had a feeling something was wrong. The doctors, actually almost didn't believe us. Our pediatrician told us "You know babies cry, and sometimes it happens for no reason. It's a phase, it will pass." Luckily, we had insisted on tests, and sure enough one of his tests shows markers of an infection
We were extremely fortunate, given the circumstances, because if the infection had reached his blood, it would have meant ten days in the hospital, on IV antibiotics.
Luckily, Alex showed improvement almost immediately after receiving his first shot of antibiotics; and we were able to go home with a eight day supply of oral antibiotics.
The hospital seems to have been a turning point in Alex's development.
He slept so much while there, and when we got home he seemed like a much happier baby; and we immediately started seeing the changes happening. It's like his brain was able to fully click on, and things started registering!
He's doing so much better now and we couldn't be happier!
💖
I'm truly taking in and enjoying each and every moment with him. Watching him grow every day is such a miracle and I'm truly thankful to have been given this chance to his Mama.
