#SWUR Summer Vacation Challenge!



Understanding Shae's Story is hosting one of today's challenges!

It's called Summer Vacation Challenge! I'll be picking my ideal destination that I'd love to live in from a book I've read!

Because Shae picked the MOST AWESOME place already, Hogwarts of course!!, I've realized I should probably come up with something of my own...

So I've chosen...Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins.

One word...Etienne....sigh...***swooning right now***

Okay so I will admit he's not the only reason!

Even though it would scare me to live away from my parents, especially during high school, I have always found the idea of boarding school fascinating...PLUS in Paris??!! With a bunch of people who speak English???

AWESOME!!  I think it would be a total blast! As long as I get to live the exact life Anna lives in Anna and the French Kiss of course! ;)

    Gosh I'm so ashamed to admit that I've never read Anna! I've heard nothing but good things about this book, and everyone who's read it always recommends it! But I totally agree, I'd be scared to live away from home but the temptation of going to a boarding school in paris would easily sway me and dry my tears lol! Great answer!

    I read that book a while back ... it was pretty good :). I'm still trying to play catch-up, I read 1 book and 1 e-book while on vacation but I have like 10 NetGalleys left and 4 or 5 books to review :-/.

The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick

I saw the movie Hugo (directed by Martin Scorsese) right before the New Year.  Let me back track, and let you know that usually I am NOT a fan of Oscar movies.  If I'm being honest, I find them to be boring.  However, this year has seemed to bring quite a few more exceptions than normal.  Among those are: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 , The Help , and Hugo.   I fell in love with Hugo .  I thought it so beautifully done.  The music, the characters, the story.  I found myself crying even at points that wouldn't necessarily make you cry.  I honestly, didn't know the movie was based on a book; but when I found out at the end, I knew I had to read it. The winner of the Children's Caldecott Award, The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick is nothing like anything I've ever read.  Normally, when I read I imagine the story that I am reading  unfolding in my head like a movie; but with The Invention of Hugo Cabret I didn't have to imagine.  T

The Cassandra Clare Experience that I ALMOST Missed!! (PLUS INTERNATIONAL GIVEAWAY!!!)

Hey Everyone! Can I just say I had one of the most amazing nights Friday night!! So rewind.... Let's start from the beginning... Once upon a time my fabulous mom and I went on a little road trip.  We left at 1:00 p.m. the house, with directions in hand that told us it would take about 2 hrs. and 20 minutes to get there. Well, thanks to the beautiful view of Los Angeles traffic, and the most crappy directions EVER, it took almost SIX hours to get there!!!!!!!!!! No freaking joke!!! Mapquest SKIPPED a step on the directions so we ended up going on the wrong freeway, and getting over an hour off track!! Thanks to wonderful lady at A Whale of a Tale Bookshoppe , who had the technology needed to actually travel, not just paper directions, we were able to find our way back on track!!
