Meg-A Readers Recap Week 8! (AND GIVEAWAY)!!
Week 8 of Meg-A Readers Blog Hop! Only 2 more weeks to go!! I'm super sad ;(, but let's not think about that yet!
Anyway, this week, as I mentioned in previous posts, was my 21st birthday (on Monday), Las Vegas weekend, my brother's on Wednesday (the 4th), and then Independence Day! It's been a crazy busy week!! Along the way there were some awesome posts again!! And thanks to Diana, who helped me promote those awesome posts, we were able to have another fabulous week!!
For this week, I've got a review up! So here's that!
Wow.
Just Wow.
Starting this book, I honestly thought it was going to continue right where the fourth (Sanctuary) left off. Instead, it began TWO years after the fourth!
Jess is nineteen now...which you know, had me jumping up and down, because I just kept thinking to myself, "FINALLY, Rob won't have an issue with being with Jess!!!"...unfortunately, that's when I kept reading, and learned something that disturbed me a bit...
Rob and Jess hadn't spoken in over a year! And they definitely didn't leave things on good terms... ;(
I wanted to cry!!! SOOO MUCH!! All that kept going through my head was, "No, No.NO!!!" I literally, wanted to have a hissy fit!!
I was able to pull myself together, because after all, I'm about to turn 21 on Monday, and let's just say, I doubt a 21 year old still has hissy fits...at least a mature one!
I kept reading...I couldn't put it down...I learned Jess over the past two years has used her powers in Afghanistan, to help in the war, to find those missing terrorists; then when Jess came back, she just wasn't the same. The war messed her up...which is absolutely understandable! Jess has come back with a hate for the government, for putting her through that; a loss of her powers, because she can't sleep without having terrible night terrors; but expecting to come home to jump into the arms of Rob Wilkins, the boy she left behind, because he didn't want to be with her until she turned eighteen, because he was still on probation, (he was two years older). But that's when Jess comes home to find Rob in the arms of another woman, lip-locked.
What does Jess do?
Moves to New York to attend Julliard, where she's received a scholarship.
And that's where she's been for the past year, as she worked on becoming a professional flutist.
That's when she gets an unexpected knock on the door, and none other than Rob Wilkins is standing at her door, asking Jess for help.
His sister's missing, and he needs her help to find him.
But can Jess do it, without her powers? Or will Jess finally be able to close her eyes, and have a normal...at least normal for Jess, night's sleep?
And will Jess be able to have her questions answered, of what really happened between Rob and her?
My thoughts:
OMG! OMG OMG!!!!!
I can't even tell you how much I LOVED this book!! Seriously!!
I loved this book so much, that it got so bad, that I was staying up until ONE A.M (!!) to continue reading!! Overall, the reason why I loved this book so much was because of Rob and Jess. Their relationship was the best!!
Overall, the idea behind their relationship reminded me a bit of the tenth and final (for now!!, hopefully!!) Forever Princess (#10 in The Princess Diaries Series). If you've read the tenth book (and remember it), then you'll remember that it's been about a year and a half since Mia's last seen Michael, and she's almost moved on...except for the fact, she sometimes still thinks about her first love. Michael and Mia also had a couple years age gap between them.
This book was SO GOOD!!! Seriously!! I HIGHLY recommend this series!!! :)
Now here's the recap for this week:
