First off, look at this title...
From Goodreads |
How HOT is that cover?
What is it about a good looking man in a suit???!!!
I have been dying to get my hands on this book, just because of that cover...honestly! Yes, I admit I am a book cover judger!
For some reason, even though I was accepted to review it on Goodreads, it didn't download to my Kindle, when I pressed the "Send to Kindle" button, which was a bit disappointing!
But then the other day, I get an envelope in the mail...I hadn't been expecting anything either, just Scarlet by Marissa Meyer, which hadn't even shipped yet (darn you, Barnes and Noble sometimes!! I preordered that book TWO Months ago!! BTW it's finally shipped Tuesday night!). When I opened that envelope, let me just tell I was shocked and super excited to find Beautiful Bastard slide out! Keep in mind this book doesn't come until February 12th!! (this coming Tuesday), so it was pretty awesome getting an early finished copy!!
I started reading it Wednesday while I was at work, and just devoured it over 24 hours!
Description from Goodreads:
An ambitious intern. A
perfectionist executive. And a whole lot of name calling. Discover the
story that garnered more than two million reads online.
Whip-smart, hardworking, and on her way to an MBA, Chloe Mills has only one problem: her boss, Bennett Ryan. He’s exacting, blunt, inconsiderate—and completely irresistible. A Beautiful Bastard.
Bennett has returned to Chicago from France to take a vital role in his family’s massive media business. He never expected that the assistant who’d been helping him from abroad was the gorgeous, innocently provocative—completely infuriating—creature he now has to see every day. Despite the rumors, he’s never been one for a workplace hookup. But Chloe’s so tempting he’s willing to bend the rules—or outright smash them—if it means he can have her. All over the office.
As their appetites for one another increase to a breaking point, Bennett and Chloe must decide exactly what they’re willing to lose in order to win each other. Originally only available online as The Office by tby789—and garnering over two million reads on fan fiction sites—Beautiful Bastard has been extensively updated for re-release.

My thoughts:
So I don't know about you, but if I devour a book in a very short period of time, I usually love it!
Before I continue I have a couple of things to mention, that are background info about this book...
1. It was originally published as fan-fiction piece (I want to say Twilight, because I think I read that somewhere, but honestly I didn't really see any similarities), under the name The Office.
2. This book, while it has been compared to Fifty Shades of Grey (which I don't really understand either, since there was no BDSM is in this one. Just because it has sex in it, doesn't mean it needs to be compared to Fifty right away!), this piece of Fan-Fiction actually came out BEFORE the Fifty Grey fan-fiction was released!
What really got to me in this one, in a good way, was the story that occurred between Chloe and Bennett. While it started off as a pretty messed up boss-hating-intern, and vice-versa, relationship, it soon developed into a growing love and respect relationship.
My overall rating, if you haven't already guessed...
Because Fifty Shades was technically published in paper form before Beautiful Bastard, I will recommend it to Fifty fans. Honestly, after reading this one though, and finding out came out BEFORE Fifty, makes me sort of rethink my review on Fifty...but lets just leave it, I guess.
While it had some intense sex scenes...okay, not some, more like A LOT!!, I overall really enjoyed the budding relationship that occurred between Chloe and Bennett. It was the growing love story that gets to me always!
Keep in my though, like I said, it has graphic elements to it, so if you're not into that, than I wouldn't recommend this one. But otherwise definitely check it out, when it hits shelves this coming Tuesday on the 12th of February!
Yay, going to read this on my Kindle soon now :).
ReplyDeleteDefinitely do!! :) And then let me know what you thought!
DeleteMy review is going to be on my blog tomorrow morning! Giving it 4 out of 5 stars. :)
DeleteI'll be checking it out! :)
DeleteDefinitely going to check this one out! ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, I preordered SCARLET in Dec, and BN delayed my order as well! I don't understand why!!! Maybe because it was on their teen Bestseller list and they didn't have enough copies for the stores? Still, I want MY COPY!!! It came on Friday...in a separate box from the other two pre-ordered items which shaped a day earlier, lol.
ReplyDeleteThese authors were on my radar when I saw their agent tweeting about acquiring them, but I've heard this, like 50 Shades, used to be Twilight fanfiction, and I don't really like when authors do that. For that reason, I haven't read Cassandra Clare, either. I'm glad you received an early finished copy, though, and that you enjoyed it!!
