Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks (Review)

Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks has literally been sitting on my bookshelf since the paperback came out in 2011!  No joke!

I'm a HUGE Nicholas Sparks fan!  So after reading that, you may be wondering, why have you had Safe Haven sitting on your shelf for the last two years, and only read it NOW?

Well, the only answer I know is that when it comes to a Nicholas Sparks book you really have to be in the mood to read it!  Why? Because you can pretty much guarantee that you'll cry at least once by the end!  At least that's how it is for me! :)

From Goodreads:

When a mysterious young woman named Katie appears in the small North Carolina town of Southport, her sudden arrival raises questions about her past. Beautiful yet self-effacing, Katie seems determined to avoid forming personal ties until a series of events draws her into two reluctant relationships: one with Alex, a widowed store owner with a kind heart and two young children; and another with her plainspoken single neighbor, Jo. Despite her reservations, Katie slowly begins to let down her guard, putting down roots in the close-knit community and becoming increasingly attached to Alex and his family.

But even as Katie begins to fall in love, she struggles with the dark secret that still haunts and terrifies her . . . a past that set her on a fearful, shattering journey across the country, to the sheltered oasis of Southport. With Jo's empathic and stubborn support, Katie eventually realizes that she must choose between a life of transient safety and one of riskier rewards . . . and that in the darkest hour, love is the only true safe haven.

  My Thoughts:

Safe Haven kept me hooked from beginning until end!
It was a bit different from his previous books, just because of the overall story feel.  This one was a bit of a thriller.  However, all-in-all it still had that element that Nicholas Sparks fans love! The romance, love, finding that special someone, chemistry, some sort of conflict...it was all there! :)

Overall rating:
I would hands down recommend this one to all Nicholas Sparks fans! With the movie just having been released (on Valentines Day) I'm sure a lot of people will be checking this one out! :)  I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it soon!  I totally imagined Josh Duhamel as Alex, even if he doesn't quite fit the appearance, but that's okay!  I'm sure Juliane Hough will do a great Katie too!!

The Romance Bookie :)
